I'm just curious to see some of the cool experiences that people have had in AOS/8th edition recently, inspired by the moments of WTF in the 40k section. I'll start. Today I was playing an 8th edition game, my Dwarves versus my buddy's Lizardmen. The game started off rather poorly for me when my buddy got off a very good chain lightning that hit nearly every unit in my army, dealing massive damage. I was able to claw my way back though, mostly by the fact that my Dwarf Lord was nigh on unkillable, my opponent couldn't roll a decent to-wound roll to save his life. So what kinds of cool things have you had happen in your games of AOS/8th edition?

TheEyeOfNight- I swear, this thread is 70% smack talk, 20% RP organization, and 10% butt jokes
TheEyeOfNight- "Ordo Xenos reports that the Necrons have attained democracy, kamikaze tendencies, and nuclear fission. It's all tits up, sir."
Space Marine flyers are shaped for the greatest possible air resistance so that the air may never defeat the SPACE MARINES!
Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum

My undead have done ok but have yet to win a game. Even with raising to replace models or units, I need the initiative win to keep going and my dice are not helping me in that regard.

My last warhammer fight was a resounding loss to a swarm of rats. my undead force was basically picked apart and swamped, while my vampire desperately tried to turn the tide, and almost made it happen, until a warp lightning cannon ended his rampage :(...back to the grave for me. turn 5 defeat.
My last AoS fight never got off the ground, my planned opponent couldn't make it, and noone else in the shop would touch it with a ten foot pole wearing rubber gloves. I dont think it was my army comp, having just watched it get rat-handled before.

In my last game, over the course of five turns I beat Karl Franz to death with a Hortennse Chaos Standard Bearer (Daemonic mount, third eye of tzeentch, 3++ save.)
It was my last ever fantasy game before I left the city to move back home. I won the match quite well, so as I pack up I said.
"I've killed the Emperor. I've completed WHFB"
That was several months ago.

After repeated presented-with-my-own-butt-on-a-plate shenanigans, fortune smiled on my Stormcast and threw up a game where the Duardin opposition had to advance toward me.
If people thought Dwarfs were difficult to shift in WFB, in AoS they got far worse - but the price for that is that they just have to kinda sit there.
Managed a major victory with about two thirds the models I'd normally take against the guy!
Playing him again on Tuesday though, so expecting normal service to be resumed.

I tried a game of AoS against my friend who has the box set. My bastiladon roasted many blood fellows, but we both somehow forgot he had the korgorath thing.
It chilled behind a tree for the entire game.

Last game was WoC against O&G using the PPC system. Great battle and the points system seemed really well thought out. Looking forward to trying out some of the scenarios using the points system.

I keep losing! I kill and I kill but those damn sudden deaths keep getting me. However every player I have lost to recounts the exciting tale to their friends, and that is a form of winning.

Had a 8th 4000p Empire vs DE& TK Battle, I was the dark elf player.
A Empire Battle wizard transformed into a Great Fire Dragon, the one With 8 in basically all stats, because of bad Winds of Magic and my ally the TK needed the PD for ressurection we had to deal with it the old fashion way, awesome Battle
Empire engineer blew up 8 Executioners With a pidgeon bomb War Hydra With only 1 wound left regained all wounds in one round. Pistoliers ran circles around some chariots were fun to watch, though really annoying as well. Was really fun Battle, we had banned dwellers, pitofshades and Purple sun though, which I think is for the better because having elite units in CC is fun to play with and against.

My son and I got the starter set and a few extras. He mostly plays Stormcast and me Khorne. So far it seems very 1 sided.
Last game he just dominated me. I was able to take down his Lord Celestant, Prosecutors and a unit of Liberators and he wiped the rest of my army.
He really wanted a Celestant Prime so I got a Skarbrand and Soul Grinder to see if it will help balance it out. Also got the realmgates for funsies. Will build them up this weekend and check test them out.

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd

Wolf Guard Bodyguard in Terminator Armor
|
Had a good game against my wife's high elves yesterday. My night goblins all decided to beat each other up at the start and I was a little disheartened. Things turned around with a cast of da bad moon killing almost an entire unit of sea guard followed by fanatics killing all her sword masters.
Sadly due to the unpredictable gobbos my squig gobba fired on my spider riders which caused them to flee the table, we were neck and neck on the last turn but she managed to wipe out a block of goblins and Nick the battle standard meaning she won by 200pts
