For my next army I'm thinking of having its 'leader' be reminiscent of Pinhead from the Hellraiser films.
My first thought was Chaos Space Marines due their 'spikyness' and warp sorcery.
Then I got to thinking that Dark Eldar seems to suit the character a bit.
What do you folks think?

Pinhead is one of the leaders of the Cenobites, formerly humans but transformed into creatures which reside in a extradimensional realm...

That sounds more in-kin with the Chaos Space Marines then Dark Eldar.

Sounds equally like Dark Eldar to me. Could be a human elevated to Haemonculus status. Also, Commoragh is an extra-dimensional realm.
Just my two.

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you. |

Pinhead is one of the leaders of the Cenobites, formerly humans but transformed into creatures which reside in a extradimensional realm who travel to Earth through a puzzle box called the Lament Configuration in order to harvest human souls.
At least include the whole quote guys. Dark Eldar straight up harvest souls.
Though described by Pinhead's human half in Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth as being "very persuasive and very inventive",[12] Pinhead prefers using coercive methods in order to obtain his goals, a fact which brings him into conflict with his ally, the demon Princess Angelique.[13]
Pinhead can be reasoned and bargained with. In both Hellraiser and Hellraiser: Hellseeker, Kirsty Cotton bargains with Pinhead to offer him more "souls" in exchange for her own (in particular, her human adversaries), thus resulting in her life being spared.[18][19] In Hellraiser: Revelations, Pinhead is prepared to take Emma to the cenobite realm for having opened the box before other characters explain that she was forced to open it at gunpoint by her boyfriend; Pinhead agrees to let Emma go and take Nico instead.
Also, the fact that he loves to manipulate people and steal souls also sounds more Dark Eldar than Chaosy to me.

I don't know...
Soul stealing and manipulation sounds just as chaos-y to me as much as Dark Eldar-like.
BTW the wiki article actually helped prompt me to think of Chaos to begin with.
EDIT: I'm thinking I might do a variety of forces... personal budget be damned! One Chaos and one DE definitely... I might do others too.

Dark Eldar match the aesthetic better though.

His powers are too weird to be Dark Eldar though.
There's no technology he uses, its all magic nonsense.
I don't think he's CSM either, more like just straight Chaos Daemons.
Probably a Chaos Cultist that devoted himself to Chaos Undivided.
He was granted extended life and incredible powers as long as he continues to turn souls towards Chaos.
This is apparent from his method of capture. Lemarchand's Box.
The box itself is a mechanism of Tzeentch, requiring intelligence, willpower, and a little bit of chance to solve.
The Hooks and Chains are Khorne, focusing on the blood and viscera of sudden violence.
The intense feeling of pain and pleasure is Slaanesh, of course.
The slowed time and constant decay and regeneration of their bodies is Nurgle (this last part is more apparent in the book: A Hellbound Heart).

Ha! This is awesome. I'm a HUGE Hellraiser fan. I just finished reading "The Scarlet Gospels" which is Clive Barker's farewell homage to Pinhead.
Reducing Pinhead to a Dark Eldar torturer doesn't do him justice from a "fluff" perspective. I do agree that the physical aesthetics of the character would fit though, and he IS a torturer, which goes along very well with Dark Eldar.
On the surface, Pinhead is a human who has been transformed by Leviathan, the God of "Flesh, Hunger and Desire". http://cenobite.wikia.com/wiki/Leviathan
There is some confusion between the books / comics and movies regarding the specific origins of Pinhead, and whether or not he began his existence in 1921 when the human Eliot Spencer solved the Lament Configuration, or whether Eliot Spencer was simply the latest incarnation of Pinhead created by Leviathan.
BUT... all that taken into account I think the clearest parallel between Hellraiser and 40k would be to say that Pinhead is a Deamon Prince of Slaanesh. Granted the aesthetic doesn't fit the Games Workshop models for Deamon Princes, but I think you could take a Pinhead model, stick him on the tabletop, and be assured that he qualifies as a Deamon Prince.

What would be the best model for pinhead? A converted Expeditionary Navigator?

That's tough. The Navigator is pretty good. Maybe a converted Deamonhost? I could see maybe a heavily converted Urien Rakarth.
http://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/Dark-Eldar-Urien-Rakarth
I like the long cloak on the Urien-Rakarth model and the butcher tools that he has with him. He's floating which could work great for a Pinhead model. I'd remove the extra arms of course, and you'd need a headswap with something else. Then remove the tentacles he's floating over, put chains whirling all around him? It'd be a pretty tough conversion though.

yeah that would be tough for all the arms.
I'd use the navigator for he head, and shave down the third eye.
What about the actual pins? I think real pins would be too big.

In all seriousness, I think a Pinhead looking guy would best fit in a Dark Eldar army. Dark Eldar are all about weird body modification and spikes.

If I were doing this, I'd probably use really thin styrene rod for the pins. You could maybe create a greenstuff skullcap, trace the lines on it, put the pins on it, and then sculpt it onto the head you chose. It'd definitely be tough thouth.
