Wondering what you guys have used as a model for this piece?

Fluff wise its meant to be a vortex or something. I tried and failed to model this, and can't imagine it looking decent at all or even making sense (soldiers killing a tornado with swords? meeeh), so I picked up a Cauldron of Blood on the cheap to create a sort of sacrificial altar.

Then I noticed SPD 10, Fly, and almost greater daemon-esk stats, which kind of screwed up that plan entirely.

So I'm at a bit of a loss, and wondering if dakka has any ideas or examples they can share?

https://www.google.de/search?q=air+elemental+model&biw=1366&bih=667&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAWoVChMIzdjb3b3xyAIVQYkPCh34ow7g#tbm=isch&q=air+elemental+miniature

This search shows several air elemental minis from Dungeons and Dragons that are sort of a cross between vortex and humanoid. Painted in the right colours, they could represent a vortex of soul energy rather than air.

If you really wanted to splash out you could go for:
http://www.games-workshop.com/en-SE/Vampire-Counts-Mortis-Engine

with a demon on there instead of a necromancer.
