So my group has recently just gotten back into 40k after playing through most of 5th. Took me awhile to find the army I truly loved (I have like 5) and it was Orks. Anyway after coming back to the game from 5th we have all come to realize that assault armies have it pretty damn rough. My friends Imperial Guard army has 0 problems tabling me in 2 turns and I havent really been able to figure out anything that gives me a fighting chance. His list is something like this.
Company Commander with squad in chimera
(master of fleet and ordnance)
3-4 Vet squads with Heavy Flamer, Flamer, and Melta in chimeras
All chimeras have multi Laser and Heavy Flamers
1-3 (im assuming Vet squads) in Vendettas
All Vendettas have 3 TL Lascannons and drop troops immediately on entering
1-2 Leman Russ standard
2 Wyverns

My question is there a feasible way to beat this list. Assaulting chimeras does not work as I get overwatched with 2 flamers and lasgun arrays. Wreck the vehicle, then cannot consolidate so im an easy BBQ for the Vet squads. Having 3 Battlewagons filled with 20 boys also doesn't work because all he has to do is touch the open topped with his flamers and he gets that ridiculous flamers in enclosed spaces rule (D6 hits on occupants). Mek Gunz wont work because Wyverns (literally the most overpowered thing I have ever faced). Sorry for the rambling post but I am honestly stumped about facing this list.

It must be a heavy weapons team or Scions, they're 6 man squads with 3 meltas in them. Would mix and matching Smasha guns with Traktor Cannons be worth fielding? I feel like all Traktor cannons would be useless until the Vendettas showed up.
