Hey All,

This is my first attempt at doing any modding. I have started building an Elysian army (which is primarily made of vets with Carapace armour). I have ~65 Kharskin models which I love the look of - therefore I am going to attempt to convert them to be Elysian vets... or at least try!

The approach I started with (which was the simplest) was simply to remove the backpacks that I had previously glued and add some grav chutes (which took only a little cutting on the back)

I liked this, but its still not really 'different'. So I ordered some Heads and started with the next set of models...

I lopped off their heads with an acto saw (was actually easier than I thought!) - I grazed a couple of shoulder pads but not in a way which should be too noticeable... hopefully! As I want more plasma troops I also decided to mod some of the flamers to be plasma guns...

Next step was to undercoat them. I need to paint them 'as is' before adding the grav chutes

Once I have a body painted i'll add the grav chute and update the thread! Overall I am quite enjoying the modding process - and does not seem as scary as I first thought - although lopping off some heads and weapons is as simple as it gets!

... oh, and ignore the bases for now, they're not stuck on that hap-hazardly!

Thanks for the comments so far. Painting is far from my forte so I tend to go with simple paint schemes...

I still need to highlight the black areas and then I'll add the grav chutes. Clearly the plasma gun paintjob needs a lot of work - it leaves a lot to be desired!

Overall I really like the new heads though, they stand out much more than the old karskin heads. Hopefully with the grav chutes fitted they should have a nice Elysian look to them... though I do wonder if I should have base coated them in a sand colour rather than black...

That's some nice converteratin'. I always liked those kasrkin models and the elysian bits work well with them.

I don't mind the grey-blue scheme. Wasn't that the elysian colour back when they were only a Chapter Approved conversion?

I'm sooo, sooo sorry.

Thanks for the comment. I am trying to work out what colour to paint the visors. Here is the model with a blue visor. Opinions welcome (and wanted) as I am still not too sure.

The red is more stand out but because its stronger it clashes more with the arm pads (I use a different arm pad colour for each squad - so I need the visors to be somewhat neutral).

Settled on the blue instead of the red and I think that seems to fit nicer with the shoulder pads...

Not quite sure how best to highlight the black - any advice there would be appreciated. Onto the grav chutes next!

Ok, apart from their bases I am pretty much finished with these guys. I am not a great painter so they don't stand up to most other posts on here but compared to my normal standard I am quite happy!

The use of Karskin models with a head switch and grav chutes I think works really well for Elysian Grenadier Vets...

20 more unpainted ones to do - and then I need to work out how I am going to convert the 30 that I had already painted and attached grav chutes to before I realised I should do the head switch... doh!

Looking good! Love the idea of the Karskin for carapace vets, its just getting hold of them.
Just tried stepping up the painting on my guard vet, white armour isn't fun.

White armour sounds very interesting, I would love to see a picture of those!
