I propose that any vehicle rammed by a vehicle with a Deff Rolla adds 1 to the vehicle damage chart. That way non-open topped vehicles still would have a chance of exploding, namely on a 6.

Nothing ground breaking but people might actually take it again after the redicoulous nerf it took in the latest codex.

I think they need to pedal back completely and make it what it should be, a big rolling pin that will crush things flat.

Change it so anything it rams or tank shocks suffers D3 S10 AP2 hits that ignores cover. Any unit that chooses to nominate itself for death or glory suffers D3+3 S10 hits instead.

Make it 20 points like it used to be and I think that's all folks.

The changes to the Vehicle Damage Chart definitely make the Deffrolla worthy of being an AP2 weapon just so that it has a chance to actually destroy a vehicle. I can see D6 hits (from the 4th Edition Codex) being a bit excessive in the age of Hull Points, but at the same time, so changing it to D3 hits instead is probably good. I like the idea of it getting a bonus when ramming too. Why not both?

- Any Unit that is Tank Shocked by a DeffRolla suffers D3 S10 AP2 hits. In addition, any Ram performed by a unit with a Deffrolla is resolved at AP2.

A few friends and I were talking about an idea we had. changing it back to D6 hits. However if a 6 is rolled the ork player can exchange all of them for 1 Strength D hit instead. With the amount of Strength D already in the game this didn't seem like a crazy idea.

To be honest, i had a chance to use a deffrolla only once since 6-th dropped even with old d6 s10 hits. And it was against a DP that fell close to a wagon. And he passed every save.

Vehicles at close ranges are just even more vulnerable. Besides, you'll never get something that doesn't want to be rammed within 12" with all this pre-measurement. Furthermore, if there's someone inside your wagon, you're almost always better off moving 6" and disembarking instead of moving 12" trying to ram and than go kaboom inflicting 20 s4 hits on the boyz inside leaving them standing in the open and than taking a couple more mob rule hits.

Deff rolla has the same issues as a wrecking ball. It's cool but just not usable. The only way for deff rolla to become any good without changing core rules of the game is to make it free. Just take it instead of ram for this 5 points. And even than you're gona have a chance to use it in like 1 out of 10-20 games.

True, but the psychological aspect of making your opponent wary of getting hit by your deff rolla (especially if you're running multiple ones) often worked into my favour when I used it against opponents as it would make their movements much more predictable as they would shuffle key units like LR out of range, and I was able to start boxing him in away from objectives. Of course, this doesn't work all the time, especially against more agile foes (eldar scatbikes) but I think its super Orky and should at least have some measure of viability compare to the complete mess that it is now.

Yup. Once measuring was introduced in 6th Edition it sort of doesn't matter how strong you make the Deffrolla. There will be very few opportunities to use it since it's so easy for most opponents to stay out of the way. BUT it's there, it's on the model, so there should be rules for it, dammit! Just make it cheap. I think 10pts isn't bad, if it does everything a reinforced ram does, and it gives a few hits and a bonus to ramming.

I think reverting the rules back to D6 Str 10 against anything is still valid. The key is to have multiple Deff Rollas, like the ( scouting formation. Deploy on 12" line, scout, TS and Ram first turn since nothing inside can assault anyways due to the scout rule.

Where i am Deff Rollas where freakin terrifying all the way until the new codex, mostly because you could just run over infantry squads who are to slow to get out of the way. Granted most people who used them had them on Junkas, which are faster.
