I'm not really sure what you expect the school to do. It sounds like the only evidence that anything happened is hearsay, which is tantamount to a certainty that Jackalopes exists solely because Uncle Bob told you he saw one last week..

Some of the protestors admitted to the racial taunts, though, according to this article.


"Many of the demonstrators then approached the sitting students and chanted “Feth your white privilege” and “Feth your white asses,” demonstrator Dan Korff-Korn ’19 said.

“It was important to point out that the students sitting there in the library at the computers represented this greater degree of ignorance, apathy and privilege that you see at Dartmouth, but the way it was done by personally attacking people was counterproductive,” Korff-Korn said."

Well if they're allowed to protest and no-one reported any violence, i'm not sure what else there is to it. If that was the worst thing that happened to the white people in that library that day, i think they're doing pretty well.

The only thing that was admitted was the use of profanity in chants. No clarification what was being chanted.

It wouldn't surprise me of course. The NAACP can get pretty rowdy (they did annually on MLK day at my University, though no cursing, just lots of yelling).

But it seems people are assuming "stuff happened" and demanding action and when someone asks "what happened" all they get is a bunch of unactionable insinuations. Given the weight of complaints, I'd be willing to bet some bad stuff did happen. This number of people don't just make it up in my mind, However, nothing I've seen presents an actionable complaint.

I don't think the school should expel the white students who lied. It's just not that serious of a crime. If they filed a false police report, that might be another matter, but as far as we can tell no one has reported anything except chanting.

All I see in that Youtube video is a bunch of people chanting loudly with no curse words while a bunch of still shots pop up accusing protesters of cursing and being violent. What? No one got any of that on their phone? The worst thing that happens is the obnoxious girl being obnoxious at the end and she didn't curse at all. She just screamed in the guys face "Do you think black lives matter?!"

It does look pretty tame aside from the protestors being fairly rude. I posted the most favorable article towards the protestors concerning this incident, and compared it to some of the others about what happened. I figure somewhere between them the truth of the matter is.

Is this the inevitable "yeah I know those guys at the other university had a gak stika on their wall, but white people have it rough too" event?

Appeal to Moderation. It's entirely possible for one side to be completely full of gak, and the more I look into this, the more I feel that is the case. I see no evidence that any of the accusations are true except for "I wasn't there but my friend told me _______" statements and similar.

Lacking hard evidence to the contrary, I think that certain parties are full of it.

Well to be honest, people sowing outrage with fiction and demanding action for things that are not evident seems to be getting pretty trendy.

If your struggle is that you are a minority student at Dartmouth and things aren't going your way....

It is personal if you single white students out to get in their face and shout it.

Intimidation and making people feel trapped and surrounded while shouting abuse is clearly not acceptable. Sounds like some people are abusing their minority status to do thinks that are unacceptable.

That said, where's the evidence or first hand complaints from those supposedly affected? Don't they have any cameras in this college? It's almost all hearsay which no one can act upon.

If I was there is be inclined to walk out and tell them to feth themselves and leave it at that. If I stayed, I'd know if cause more trouble than its worth.

Doyou really want to do all the work to track down what looked to be a sizable amount of students, go through the expulsion process(Which i know in some school can include what amounts to a trial) and get in trouble with the SJW crowd?

Remember that's just hearsay.
If the situation is reported as the other way around its concrete evidence and immediately actionable with overbearing force.

You want to make a lot of noise and get angry? Sure. I'm okay with that. I've even defended it here before. But don't feth up the lives of people actually trying to better themselves and get work done. That's being indecent.

Gonna have to agree with this. When I went to the library, it's because the dorm is too damn loud. I get that protesters generally want their protest to get noticed, but shutting down the library and shouting in people's faces seems like an extreme way to go about it. Can't they just form a nice arm locked chain at the front doors and shout outside?

I agree. Also those people in there are most likely working to deadlines, exams etc. They don,t need it making harder for them

True. Of course, some of the finer tumblr philosophers have basically said that "all white people are the enemy".

I used to read that stuff for a laugh before it just got too painful. That being said, I understand that the vast majority of black people do not feel this way.
