It sounds like you're well under way with that.
The easiest solution would just involve using the Bastion as a WoM Bunker, and ignoring the 'wide fire points' special rule, because that's common sense. I've compared the different bunkers from 'Stronghold Assault' and I'm pretty sure the WoM bunker was designed to be a bare bones Medium building at 55 pts, possibly 50 pts, with the special rule added in for an extra 5 pts.
The special rule essentially provides an additional 6 fire points along one side of the building, while my bastion will only have 3 fire points in total. The bastion will also have twice the footprint, which should make it easier to hit with templates in particular. The only advantage would have to be larger area on top of the building, there's enough room for 10 guardsmen, whereas the WoM can only really have 5-6 models on top of it.
I think a fair points cost for the bunker/bastion I'm intending to build should be 50 pts (possibly 45), but I honestly don't mind overpaying by 5 (or 10 points). Rule of Cool is always going to be my indicative design philosophy, and I'm used to making army lists with extravagant and irrelevant purchases thrown in, so overpaying something by 5 points is trivial for me.
