Hey guys,

When retaking a Forge World, would the Adeptus Mechanicus insist on any level of military presence? Or would it be completely dependent on the particular instance?

Because logically it would seem that an insistence on some level of military presence would be the case, but I'm really not sure.

Cheers

A minor one? Probably miminum of 10 Titan Legions. A major one? Space Marines, every IG regiment in the Sector and every Titan Legion or Skitarii force they can find. STCs down there? No expense is too great. If the Mechanicus had their way, every Space Marine, Grey Knight, Battle Sister, Stormtrooper, Guardsman, and child old enough to hold a lasrifle is expendable assets.

What do you mean by "military presence"? Whose military presence are we referring to?

The Ad Mech has its own military, then there is Imperial Guard, Space Marines, etc...

Naturally if they can help it they are going to be the ones who retake the world, and they're going to insist upon micromanaging the invasion to avoid more damage than necessary to their machinery regardless.

If they can do it themselves they will do it themselves, no way that they risk their secrets to fall into the hands of their "allies".

I'm thinking along the lines of Chaos having taken the FW.

I was referring to having their own forces attached to and/or leading the invasion force (Skitarri, Titan Legions, etc etc).

I was thinking more along the lines of a minor one. And if there is already a strong military presence from the Adeptus Mechanicus' allies, wouldn't 10 Titan Legions be a a little bit much? (Especially of their allies have artillery, tanks, super-heavies, etc).

10 would be too little! Its a Forge World! 10 Titan Legions to reclaim the gifts of the Omnissiah?! Blasphemy, you underestimate how much the Mechanicus value their stuff. Techmarines have been known to lead detachments back into the fray just to reclaim a Land Raider's lost weapon or a particularly old Rhino

But yeah. The Mechanicus would commit its own forces for a battle important to it. So if you're looking to recapture a former forge world, expect to see the Imperium's army having attached (or even primarily consisting of) Skitarii and Collegia Titanicus forces.
