Hi
Anyone know of any miniatures with chain mail coifs or hoods? I've had a poke around and can't seem to find any, and I'm to much of a scrub to green stuff my own (I've tried. It was bad. I've learned my place)
Thanks!

Dumb suggestion, but have you considered using hessian or gauze or something? I know it works for camo, wondering if it would work for silver as well.

Oh, boy. This request turned out harder than I thought. I looked through all the historicals I could find. Nothing. Odd. Very odd.
But I did find this. It's not much and not a separate head, but it was all I could find.
I'll keep looking though.

Also, check out my history blog: Minimum Wage Historian, a fun place to check out history that often falls between the couch cushions. |

I might try that at some point in the future, but at the moment I'm not confident I could deal with the fiddly-ness of trying to make a space marine-sized hood out of it. Thanks for the idea though, I would never have thought of that!

Yeah, I thought it was kind of weird too, given how long fantasy miniatures have been around, but I just figured my google-fu wasn't strong enough.

Is it just heads, or are you looking for whole models? If the latter, what period?
Wargames Foundry have plenty. For example, look in the Men At Arms and Feudals categories of their Ex-Citadel range (those used to be Warhammer Empire and Bretonnians).
edit: heads only. Ah well, never mind.
Warlord Games have a few plastic sets in their Hail Caesar range (despite the name, it covers 300 BC to 1500 AD, so it takes in the Wars of the Roses and the Hundred Years War). Unfortunately, the English Army 1415-1429 box is sold out, as there's a couple in there.

To be honest I'm not too fussed about it being 'just heads', so long as I can hack them off somehow and stick 'em in the neck-hole of a space marine. The stuff you've posted seems promising, thanks dude!

I figured you'd just make it on the head, put some material down, jam a ton of PVA over it, push it into place to look semi decent - wait a few hours and see if you like the look.
You could probably even trim and shape it on the model while dry, then once it looks ok just paint it black and drybrush it silver. I'd try it myself, but a) it'd never get done, and b) it'd never get done.
