Imagine you are a fully conscious norn-queen (or norn-king) in a hive fleet.

Your duty is to change your hive fleets tactics and modify your troops however you think is best.

Your future targets will mostly be imperial planets of all kinds.

What changes do you make that set you apart from other fleets?

Make giant bio-titans that can take down Titan Legions like the one did on Gryphon IV.

Make more of those Doom of Malan'tai Zoanthropes and roll over some Exodite worlds to gain super powers for them.

Photosynthesise more.

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

Make giant engine constructs to hurl ort cloud debris in system to wipe out all life in the system before I get there. Then gobble up the remains.

I would also try to build as much 'biomass" from normally waste/uncollectable material such as rocks so I can use more of a systems mass to build the hive.

Also giant sun draining creatures to eat thr mass of the sun.

Fusion/fission creatures to fracture and fuse atoms to create more useful elements from otherwise useless resources.

Make some kind of space cattle species that remain cattle for tens perhaps hnderss of generations until they all turn into flesh eating nightmares.

Then drop some herds on planets the imperium will visit.

I would invest heavily in biological warfare. Nids are already doing this to some degree but there is more that could be achieved. A zombie virus, a lifeeater equivalent for example.

on the forum. Obviously

Use genestealer cultists to orchestrate a large scale civil war between planets. Send in the fleet to consume the survivors.

or

Threaten one planet, and when the defenders converge to defend that world, send in splinters to attack the worlds they left behind.

What I have
~4100
~1660

Westwood lives in death!
Peace through power!

Eat nebulae and other space debris, leaving living things that can defend themselves alone.

Then, using my vastly larger fleet that got most of its organic particles for little effort other than drifting in a gas cloud to...

...move to another gas cloud.

Seriously there are so many more organic chemicals for building life forms in gaseous nebulae than on rocky, dense, inner-system planets capable of supporting life that I could probably outlive all the other Nids that insist on subsisting on suboptimal food sources.

Honestly, I would make Dominatrixes even smarter and more cunning than they already are, increase their psychic range and produce a large number of them.

My Tyranid swarm would be unstoppable.

I have billions and billions of troops that are controlled by tactical geniuses and planners that put Asdrubael Vect to shame.

Not necessarily. Sure, they have basic compounds, but nothing as complex as what you would find in living organisms.

I was under the impression that basic compounds (not even compounds, just atoms) was all you needed, and the Tyranids just built up from there, molecule my molecule, strand by strand.
