I know alot of marine units are backwards compatable. How about the 40k admech stuff? I realize there arent things like the dunecrawlers or ironstriders, but would alot of the rest be allowed as 30k "proxies"? Just starting to research, and it would be nice to have an army that could at least partially pull double duty.

I don't see why skitarii couldn't pull double duty as tech thralls and kataphron destroyers couldn't represent myrmidon destructors. Castellax and kastellans are similar in size too. The infiltrators could probably be the close combat myrmidons. I would certainly have no problem playing those as such, but of course, this varies opponent to opponent.

As with most proxies, so long as it;s a similar size and I know exactly what it is, go for it.

The onager dunecrawler actually WAS available during the great crusade! It's entry in the skitarii codex says it performed very well during it's time on the front lines and was based off a martian utility vehicle in widespread use (the mars universal land engine) which was just up-armoured and weaponized. Here's my take on it... http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/images-65352-46816_Mars%20Universal%20Land%20Engine.html
The ironstriders weren't and the neutron laser on the onager dunecrawler probably wasn't as it was 'discovered' early on in the crusade. (info in the skitarii codex)
The full cover art of the black library book 'cybernetica' has skitarii rangers and an alpha on the cover artwork - no vanaguard :[ The onager is depicted with an icarus array or the eradication beamer and one of the rangers was holding an arc rifle.
The same book cover also shows galvanic rifles, a phosphor blast pistol, an arc maul and even the ironstrider ballistari (despite the codex saying it hasn't been invented/rediscovered till after the HH in M33)
In an email to FW they stated that i could use the skitarii codex to represent them in my HH games, but they didn't say whether or not they were actually going to produce thier own skitarii models or rules.
They conceded that the onager dunecrawler was most likely in use by the mechanicum during the great crusade; "why wouldn't they have them?" was how it was put to me - i concurred as the codex says they were very good in combat.
there isn't that much you can do trying to proxy your 40k AdMech models - the Kastellan robots can become Castellax maybe?
Problem is that FW want to be different to GW and very little attention has been paid to crossover units - we all have been waiting for 'imperial armour 14 - Mechanicum Relics' or whatever they would call it for waaay too long!!.

Well, they probably meant you can use the codex to represent them as much as you could use the Ork codex to represent 30k Orks or the Eldar codex to represent 30k Eldar. Not any more sadly, it was a while ago (july) after i saw the battlebunnies thread - http://battlebunnies.blogspot.co.uk/2015/07/skitarii-30k-compatible.html#comment-form and wanted proper confirmation.
I must have deleted it because of the space it took up (you have to pay to get more allocated space with 'safe-mail')
Regretting that now, but i honestly didn't think anyone else really gave a damn!
I've asked them to re-send/re-confirm, and i'll post it here.
edit: no reply as of 16/01/2016
