Got this base finished a few hours ago. It's the first of many- a great many!

There's a good mix of miniatures, some old some new on the base and I'm quite pleased at how everything has gelled together; nothing looks out of place which is very pleasing as I did have a little anxiety that they may not fit well.

You can read all about my thinking behind the construction and painting and see many more pics on my Just Add Water Blog here:

Here's a few tasters:

Cheers,
Darrell.

And now Base III of the Huscarls.

Again, a good mix of manufacturers- just goes to show that a paint job can remedy some size differences as long as it's not too severe.

You can as usual read all about my ideas and see many more pics on my Just Add Water Blog here:

It's not Harold though- I reckon the blinding scene on the tapestry is more allegorical is the blinding of an oath breaker.

I've taken some pics of the whole front rank, I guess you would call it a unit although it will be backed with a rank of Ceorl bases of which I'll take a pic of when I have found a background big enough to manage both units- any suggestions? I do need to take some larger pics too!

Overall I'm quite pleased with the animated look that I've managed- reminds me a little of the strip of the Bayeux Tapestry with the Huscarls thrusting their spears and axes which was what I was looking for.

You can see more pics and read the gumph on my Just Add Water Blog here:

I was up very early this morning and had the time to get this vignette finished off. In truth all I did was to add the extra grass tufts, wait for the glue to dry and dry brush then a little. The painting styles are a mix of ten years ago and now (more about that on my blog) so they may appear somewhat different to my usual stuff nowadays.

As usual you can read all about my thinking and see more pics on my Just Add Water Blog here:
