Hello!

I've recently gotten a few games in for a change and I am remotivated to work on getting my army painted.

I have a Necron army but with a non traditional paint scheme. Warriors and immortals and the like are bone colored with metallic blue (leadbelcher base, sloppy ironbreaker layer and then a heavy blue wash) for their weapons and the armor bits on the immortals. Lychguard and praetorians are going to be white with the blue metal. I'm picturing the white glossy, irobot style. Vehicles are mostly white (the armor plates) with the blue for the ball joints and recessed areas.

Yadda yadda, anyway. So I'm working on a stalker now and have all the metallic blue done and it's time to do the white. I primed white. I want to re-edge most of it because the blue wash was a bit messy.

From here I'm not really sure. If I just clean the white (primer) with ceramite, will it look splotchy? Do I basically have to do a whole basecoat with it? After I do one of those things how do you add depth to a white model with lots of flat space? My guess is a layer of ulthuan and then a layer of white scar? I'm probably going to hit it with some hard coat once it's done so it's not the only flat color on the model.

Any advice would be appreciated!!

GW tends to use blues the highlight. I use a base of grey then a then white with layers to shade it. Or you could get a nice white primer like armypainter tone find a wash that you like and dip the mini or paint the wash Inyo the spots you want that shadowy look

Gw did a cool tutorial on how to paint white, basically prime corax white then base with ulthaan grey, edge highlight with white scar.

Oh also try different types of white and thinner layers tend to take longer but are much more forgiving.also I forgot to mention if doing layers I do the whole area and let it dry before the next coat or you end up with that streaked look.

I've seen models primed with Corax. It's actually a really sweet almost-white primer... maybe the best I've seen.

You need to get used to really thinning down your washes and/or just washing the recesses. One mistake a lot of people make is they try to wash their white models like they would, say, a medium blue model (ie just drown the model in wash), and this won't work; you end up with a dirty looking model.

Does ulthuan cover over white primer? Its just a layer paint isnt it? Am I going to have to do big layers of scar white to bring it back to "white looking"?
