I recently bought a box of the new Assault Marines and I noticed there are 10 torsos on the sprue and possibly 10 sets of arms, heads and backpacks. But there's only 5 pairs of legs. Is there any marine box that comes with extra legs but not extra torsos?

I don't think so. Most Marine kits have extras of EVERYTHING except for legs. It's rather annoying

I don't think so either. I got an older box of assault marines and was met with the same thing. I went onto eBay and got enough legs, arms, and heads for another ten marines so I have some left over for if I get another box of assault marines.

I believe the Command Squad comes with an extra pair of legs. Just one though.

I know the old one was (same sprue as the command squad) but is the new one?

Legs are my limiting factor as well.

The space wolf and tactical squads come with extra arms and torsos. you might be limited to 10 backpacks though. Also, the captain model should come with an extra torso and multiple arms.

Well if a box of 5 marines came with extra everything, then it wouldn't really be a box of 5 marines

^^ to the the rest tho

too bad GW doesn't sell a "legs pack". I bet it would go like hotcakes.

EDIT: It would be good if say one set had extra torsos and one set had extra legs. This way there's an incentive to buy both sets so you can get "extras" out of it. (Arms, Pads, Heads and backpacks can usually be ignored, since they seem to come extra on all sets since 3rd edition).

Everybody has the same problem, legs are the limitation on the model count (bar the Command and old Devastator squad which had an extra pair of crouching legs). They won't ever sell legs as a single set or bitz either. Why charge £5 for a set of legs so people can reuse their leftovers when they can charge £25 for a brand new squad with the same number of models made, and all the options instead of just the unwanted or unused bits?

Plenty of Bitz sellers to fill the gap...?

Anvil Industry makes particularly crisp resin castings - recommended.

Aie. I still think it's a missed opportunity for GW, since having 10 pairs of legs for Devastators would make sense since you could have both standing poses and kneeling poses.

Again, it would encourage people to buy both at the same time cuz you'd get extra marines out of the deal.

Unless you're willing to go 3rd party ebay is the only way to correct the the heads/torsos/legs imbalance GW is so in favour of ('it's so wasteful' screams the environmentalist inside me).

If you are willing to go 3rd party then Kromlech, Anvil and Spellcrow all seel decent legs. Kromlech probably have the widest range with running standing and kneeling poses + bionic variants of all the above.

There are bits sellers but they are expensive. I actually for a while had a bunch of extra legs due to me making a bunch of Iron Hands Biker untis. I couldn't use the bionic legs on the bikes . Some tactical squad purchases fixed that. If you don't mind bionics you could try the iron hands upgrade kit but it is expensive. You might just be better saving the torsos ect and just buy another assault marine kit. Maybe make some kind of messed chaos monster out of extra kit pieces. The dreaded Akira marine blob.

I guess I can always repurpose some tank treads and give them a tank lower body.

Is there any other GW kits that are cheap enough that I can repurpose their legs or comes with extras?

As others have said, command squads and devastors both come with extra legs, but they are kneeling.

You can always ask other space marine players. A lot of veterans have old legs that they're just not going to use, and will sell them cheap.

If you look at the old devastator/command squads, for instance, the legs are pretty awful compared to the new legs, but the old upper torsos are perfectly decent. I gave away a whole set of command squad legs, because when I bought the Reclusiam box (for the Chaplain), it was bundled with a razorback and command squad.

The new devastator squad still has a 6th pair of legs, but the extra detailing around the lower legs might not be desirable for all.

How new? I'd have to check my bits but I swear I have a ton of tau fire warrior legs in my bit box and I haven't bought any 40k in a while (like a year)

I'm actually kinda ok with that, cuz the extra torsos I have are normal marine torsos. I could use them to make techmarines.

It didn't bother me either, they don't look out of place at all on a tactical marine, especially if aiming/hvy weapon/reloading/auspex checking.
