So I run an Imperial Navy unit, that is made up of Pioneer, Sapper, and Pathfinder units. So because I run a unit similar to combat engineers, is it canon and fluffy to equip my Company (Squadron) Commander with a chain axe instead of a chain sword? All of my other NCO use type 7-90 e-tools for CCW. Commissar Yarrick use's a xeno (ork) weapon (power klaw) and I read about Inquisitors using Xeno weapons all the time. So........ my imperial navy warlord using a chainaxe, fluffy or nay?

Austin

-Friend: Texas flag gives you AV14 all around.

Go for it. it's just a CCW. a CCW could be a chain axe or a malfunctioning powersword that doesn't turn on, or it could be a sharp rock or a rabid squirrel tied to a 2x4.

My Warsmith uses a Sword from the Chaos Knights( AOS chaos) as his power sword just because it looks cool.

Hahaha thanks, I agree, I feel like a chainaxe would be the one ccw i'd want in my hands.

Not sure if canon, but it can be fluffy, if you have a explanation WHY he uses the Chain Axe.
Almost everything can be fluffy, if explained correctly.

I personally would chose the chainsword, specially for starship crewmen, because the axe is sort of clumsy.
I also find little odd why sailors use shovels as CCW. It suites me more for regular infantry, but that is just my tought.

Some modern armies still have axes as breaching tools, just make it something like that

They do conduct boarding action combat if need be, but as Naval pioneers, their main job is to make landfall with the imperial guard, and help secure, construct and defend assets that could benefits the imperial navy, comm-relays, air bases, etc. Think of them as combat engineers.

Thanks everybody for the input. In sake of fluff, i'd worry to much some upstart fleet commissar would see my Master-at-Arms (warlord) using one and say that he is secretly worshiping Khorne, and give him some laspistol loving to the dome.

Aren't they stuck with Power Axes though?

Krieg! What a hole...

Chainaxes aren't Chaos specific, if you go by the RPG books, you can get a Chainaxe as a guardsman, for example.

It still puzzles me that GW gave Zerkers Chainaxes rather than something else, something more unique, especially when they treat Chainswords as a normal CCW.

True, I think the Fleshtearers Chapter Space Marines wield chainaxes. Thanks for all this input, I put a lot into fluff because I really just do friendly games and campaigns, this prevents me from getting frustrated about cheese and leaf blower armies. I hope to post the full fluff and new pics of my army when I get back stateside.

You're thinking of Warpsmith. Warsmith is the Fluff Iron Warrior Equivalent of a Chaos Lord/ SM Chapter Master.
