I've got the Bakunin starter set and the Uberfolkommandos. What else do I need to have a reasonably competitive list? I don't want to show up to my first game with something unplayable, but until I get a few games under my belt I really don't have any idea what I'm doing. lol

So this Box is your first encounter with Infinity? In this case you'll be totally fine with the starter box alone.
Spoiler:
That's the original list based on WYSIWYG.
Jurisdictional Command of Bakunin
──────────────────────────────────────────────────

Group 1 6 0 0
MODERATOR Combi Rifle / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (9)
MODERATOR Combi Rifle / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (9)
MODERATOR Lieutenant Combi Rifle / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (0.5 | 9)
REVEREND MOIRA MULTI Rifle / Pistol, Shock CCW. (30)
SIN-EATER Mk12 / Pistol, CCW. (30)
ZERO (Deployable Repeater) Combi Rifle, E/Mauler / Pistol, Knife. (19)

0.5 SWC | 106 Points

Open with Army 5

I would suggest something like this though:
Jurisdictional Command of Bakunin
──────────────────────────────────────────────────

Group 1 6 0 0
MODERATOR Spitfire / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (0.5 | 15)
MODERATOR Combi Rifle / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (9)
MODERATOR Combi Rifle / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (9)
REVEREND MOIRA Lieutenant MULTI Rifle / Pistol, Shock CCW. (1 | 30)
SIN-EATER Mk12 / Pistol, CCW. (30)
ZERO (Minelayer) Combi Rifle, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 19)

2 SWC | 112 Points

Open with Army 5

There are some special or deployment skills but not too much of them I think.

You have to learn the main mechanics preliminary without too much intereference regarding all these special rules thus I think the Überfallkommando is quite complicated to play in the beginning.

But if you want to stack your force up I'd suggest to buy some more Moderators they're basically the backbone of a Bakunin force (well, thats my own opinion actually ).

Like above focus on the core rules, the quick start rules are good for this. They even leave out part of the rules they do teach, to help you get the core mechanics. As everything builds off this. You really shouldn't be show up to play your first game until you played your first few learning game at minimum.

As to what to get, the sniper and spitfire moderators are a good pick. They give a nice fire base for either posting up and covering long LoF with B2 and likely -6 to hit do the range and cover. Or a nice B5 close assault squad, and the other 3 can be specialist for cheap.

The you will need at least one hacker ( two is better) the Reverend Custodier is the number one pick.

Prowler are great, spitfire is the most common but depending on the enemy the flamethrower and glue one is a better pick sometimes. A shotgun to the face is great choose too.

Roit Grrls are nice, and if you only want the Spitfire you can get it alone instead of the box. A link of 3 is nice but to costly in my view to field more then that at 300pts.

Triple zero the monkey king is great and can attack in ways the other guys only dream about. He is a low armor hunter and can really clear a field of cheerleader.

Morlocks great early templete deliver systems and shouldn't be over looked.

Peter: As we all know, Christmas is that mystical time of year when the ghost of Jesus rises from the grave to feast on the flesh of the living! So we all sing Christmas Carols to lull him back to sleep.
Bob: Outrageous, How dare he say such blasphemy. I've got to do something.
Man #1: Bob, there's nothing you can do.
Bob: Well, I guess I'll just have to develop a sense of humor.

Thanks to both of you. Really great information! Yes I will definitely get in some practice games first. I've watched a lot of games on youtube and I understand the rules fairly well. I just have no concept of how the units play. I'll follow your advice and stick with just the starter set then.

Custodier is a shoe in..
Then maybe a box of Zonds..
Zoe&Pi-Well are a truly unique choice. Especially considering the fact that you put triangulated fire on Pi-Well and buff him..
A couple of moderators to have a full link team..
Maybe a second Zero so you can have a second minelayer to run some Camo shell games..

I may be an donkey-cave, but at least I'm an equal oppurtunity donkey-cave...

I think you mean assisted fire here...
Zoe is also a really good hacker

No Pi-Well can Triangulated Fire, -3 to BS no other mod, none I tell you.

I know but Tjomball said "... put [...] on Pi-Well and buff him", that sounds more like Assisted Fire than Triangulated Fire for me since the latter is only a Entire Order Special Skill. Might be hair-splitting for my part.

Pi-Well is undoubtedly the best candidate to use Triangulated Fire though.
