Soon (tm) i will be attending my first real tournament which changed its rules to one CAD + one Allied Detachment. Im aware of most of the super cheese lists that currently are considered meta, but most of them dont work given that restrictions and since i am having trouble evaluating all armies myselfe: what do you think, what cheese should i expect? Whats your guess, which list will be on top?

I bet my hat that there will be at least one scatbike spam list, and i expect some ravenwing or WS bike lists.

How strong can a Tau CAD be? KDK? Necrons?

Eldar CAD can be quite brutal. I think there are a lot of great builds still for Marines with 1 CAD + 1 Ally. How many points?

.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

We're talking 1750 points.
What marine build would you think off?
Afaik its not easy to build a full drop pod assault list, the psychic super frieds dont work (as well) leaving cent star and tac/rhino-spam. All in all solid lists but faar away from the meta cheese. But if it can compete with eldar it might work within this setup...

Eldar often take a CAD even when formations are available, so that's still a thing, and it still lets them take an archon with WWP and a raider for shenanigans.

Tau won't notice too much reduction in power running a CAD, though some cheese is limited.

Can still run DA/SW thunderdome to a point, can still run gating cents (though with a touch less reliability), can still jam 7-9 pods in a list, can still cram grav cents in a pod. Grav is still hilariously good, regardless if CAD or not. Even as allies, Tigurius (or an ML2 libby), 5 sniper scouts, a pod and 3x grav cents can bolster any force nicely.

Crons can still be strong in a CAD, you can still get 18 wraiths, you can have even more heavy destroyers than normal, there's less effort involved in getting a lychstar together and now they have to spend less points on troops, and those troops now gain ObSec.

Fateweaver, screamerstar and drone bus still works just fine (though it'll be a bit tighter than usual at 1750).

Strong things stay strong, it's only gimmick builds that need to worry.

Any daemon list works as normal, but SM bike and Eldar lists work just as well as normal. Tau are at their best as a CAD in my opinion, so Stormsurges will be there. Did your TO make an exception for Knights, or can those not be taken now? Finally, Id watch out for some guy busting out ye olde Serpent Spam. Oh, and also Id expect GravCent/Draigostars. Honestly most of today's power lists still do perfectly well in CADs with some tweaks.

I actually played in an RTT like this (except no allies) on Black Friday, and faced a Tau riptide list, a Wraithstar, and 6 Serpent spam.

Tau will be dependent on their markerlights. Suicide flamers are great for taking them out. After that, line of sight and out-ranging them are your best bests. With few exceptions the bulk of the Tau codex is tuned for 24-36" range.

IG might run tank spam, vets in chimeras, or if really crazy masses of infantry. No matter what IG will rely on cover and tank armor. More than likely for a tourney with CAD +1 you will see either Inquisitors, or Dark Angels I think.

Most likely youre going to see a lot of Marine allies, since a ton of their rules that for other races only affect their codex say it affects Space Marines or flat out Imperial units.

Eldar CAD can still be a thorn but you wont be seeing a WK spam thank god. Unless supers are banned, which single CAD doesnt say they are, they can still bring 1. But a single WK is far easier to deal with than 3-4. I would expect scatbikes and/or warpspider spam though.

Tau CADs can still be deadly, though the bulk of their reign right now is in the formations. Without formations, target priority #1 is any form of markerlights. Majority of the codex outside a formation isnt that uber amazing without ML support (not bad either but not crazy good). Again, if supers are legal, a Stormsurge might show its face but at 1750pts he wouldnt have much support, and those guys devour markerlights to operate properly lol

Im going to laugh if you say you ended up facing an Ork cad. Ork codex cant do jack without doublecad lol
