Got my fourth game of infinity in yesterday, excluding O:I play throughs.
Second time playing for my opponent, first time with USAriadna.
Loving the game. The rules, minis and terrain possibilities, all of it.

200 pts, no hackers or links. Using the 20x20 system as its less specialist focused.
Terrain is my friend's awesome Hexagon Mill KS reward, along with some Underground Laser stuff that he's painted equally awesomely to tie in to it.
Smaller unpainted scatter stuff is mine and, I think, Proxie Minis resin that I don't think they produce any more.

This is the table at the middle of round 2 I think.
Objectives were capturing buildings and having your lieutenant plant a flag in your opponents board half.
Opponent won initiative and chose deployment, picking the far edge and making me deploy first. I chose to go first.
First round saw my rifle Lasiq run up the bigger building on the right flank and take out a Metro and his Devil Dog team.
I ignored a camo marker just outside my deployment zone on that same building. I think I had planned to get a Naffatun up there but then forgot.
Muyib with HRL and Kaplan with spitfire ran up the middle catwalk towards the centre of the table and Odalisque with spitfire adanced cautiously on the ground.
Djan Sniper held steady on the left flank in a solid firing position.

Opponents first turn saw the camo marker I had forgotten about reveal itself and the revealed Foxtrot go to town.
Rolls were a bit of a gong show on both sides but ended up with my Muyib dead, Lasiq dead and his Foxtrot prone on the roof of the right flank building having chosen to fail his gut check after surviving a shot from the Djan.

My Djan is haunted by the ghost of the now prone Foxtrot.

Round 2 was another roller coaster. Kaplan with a spitfire moved on to the central building to cover the open right flank and was immediately taken out by a Grunt in ARO.
Odalisque moved up aggressively and gunned down a HMG Para, before being stymied by that same Grunt (two orders of spitfire shots at him which ended with the Odalisque losing a wound).
Finally the Naffatun who had forgotten to clear out camo markers ran up to rectify her mistake and was pistol whipped back down the ladder by the Foxtrot.

Somewhere in the middle of it all going wrong.

My opponents turn 2 saw his star Grunt show everyone how it's done and finish off the Odalisque and take down a Naffatun that was covering her.
His Maverick ripped down the now open right flank but caught a bullet from the Djan and span out into the dust. In the nick of time his Grunt medic shot her full of...crack maybe, and she was back in the game!

I had very little left at this point. Round 3 he grabbed a few more buildings while I ran my lieutenant up to plant his flag turning a rout in to a slightly less humiliating 4-6 loss.

Awesome game. Got to make lots of mistakes and see lots of different things play out.
I could see how I had wasted points on certain things (Sekban doctor) and how easy it is to sink all your orders into getting one thing done.

Haven't been this into a game in a long time. Next step is painting, closely followed by working on my terrain while hopefully getting more and more games in!

If you're not playing with links, always give your Doctor a Nasmat remote. Sekban Doctors are as good as any other Haqqislam doctor, but they're a touch slow. Giving them a Nasmat remote lets them doctor from elsewhere on the board from safety.

It also makes them very order efficient. Since Haqqislam doctors are fully capable combat units, that Doctor can and should be blasting fools with his boarding shotgun or dual chain colts. While he's doing that, every MOV short skill moves the Nasmat as well. So while your Doctor is moving about putting shotgun slugs into people, the Nasmat can be on the other side of the board, moving into position to revive someone.

It takes a while to get your head around the tactic, but it's really effective. A lot of people get stuck with the idea that you have the Doctor stand still and the Nasmat performs the action, when in reality the Nasmat just does the same actions (if possible) that the Doctor is doing.

Thanks Loki. Definitely planning on putting my nasmats together asap. The wasted points comment was more along the lines of me not making good use of him!

You sound a lot like me a couple of months ago, and I'm still totally hooked by this game. Great choice on Haqq, you've got lots of fun units to look forward to using.

I know links can be a bit daunting but I would recommend just throwing yourself in the deep end and looking things up as necessary. Main thing to remember is that in the active turn only the link leader can shoot with burst +1, and in the reactive turn they all have burst +1 to their ARO [i.e. 2 shots each in ARO]. 5 man Sekban link with HRL, so sweet...

Table looks great too.

Glad you are enjoying your first games, and that's a bloody fantastic terrain set to use as an introduction to the game.

Loved this quote..

I think it might be a bit heavy on the 25+ pt guys. I haven't got a solid handle on how many 'things' I need for each role yet, but I'm looking forward to working that out.

This is entirely personal playstyle. Some people don't like anything over about 20pts and like to play with 2 full, or near full, combat groups. Some like a single full combat group with more elite units. Some crazies have even gotten away with a 3 model list (though that was in N2, not sure how it works now).

I hover between 10 model elite lists and 16-20 model spam lists. Both have their virtues. My spam lists generally include liberal applications of Kum. One list had 7 backed up by 3 cheerleaders. That was super fun and silly. My elite lists have a few expensive models and some cheerleaders. Last one I ran had a Jannisary Doctor and HMG, an Azrail FB and an Asawira Spirfire. My opponent wasn't expecting that from Haqqsilam and had problems dealing with so many tough models, which also got back up on full health thanks to the Jannisary Doctor.

That's not a bad way to start.

Quite a varied list, should let you get a handle on various special rules, Haqqislam are great for those 15-25pt specialist units so make the most of them.

Naffatun as the Lt is a nice idea. They're a good deployment area defence, so probably won't be an obvious Lt. if you keep one in your backfield.

Sekban doctor plus is one of the most effective doctors in the game but handicapped by his slow speed, so good combo with the nasmat.

I think 9/10 orders at 200pts is pretty healthy, looking forward to more reports and seeing how your play style evolves.
