I'm considering going to an ITC-compliant local tournament with a dread mob army, mostly because I'm a big fan of deff dreads (and also of getting my ass kicked).

Anyways, the last time I did this my primary detachment was dread mob army, with codex: ork allies for a morkanaut (again, big fan of ork walkers and also of losing).

This was allowed according to a blurb in "IMPERIAL ARMOUR SIXTH EDITION ALLIED DETACHMENTS FAQ" that I downloaded from the FW site some time ago. Normally, a faction can't ally with itself, but in this document, at the bottom, it says:

"When using the Allies Matrix (page 113, Warhammer 40,000 rulebook), Ork Dread Mob armies are treated as Ork armies when both selecting allies to fight alongside them and when using them as allies for another force. The exception to this rule is that they may ally with Ork armies as Battle Brothers."

Thing is, I can no longer find this document on the FW, GW, or any site at all. That makes me wonder if the document has been removed because it's no longer valid.

So, any thoughts as to whether or not the IA:8 Dread mob list can ally with codex orks in an ITC type tournament? I didn't see anything about it on their FAQ either.

"Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment." Words to live by.

Probably best to ask the ITC forum or contact the original Tournament Organizers, since they are going to be providing any actual answers for that instead of just the theories we can guess at (or possibly reference via older ITC posts).

Are you a Wolf, a Sheep, or a Hound?

Defintely ask ITC. You might want to check the the Dread Mob List is a legal choice given that it's not currently available for sale or download from GW/FW.

Also note that Factions absolutely can ally with themselves now. Allies is a unit level rule in 7th so if they could not self ally you'd never be able to field 2 units from the same faction. Also note however you would not be able to use an Allied Detachment as you'd have to use a CAD (or other detachment) for the Orks due to a restriction in the Allued Detachment. This is all true for standard 40k but ITCbowl is a weird list of random nonsensical rule changes so I have no idea what is true in their bizarre rules.

Yes my Colour is Black but not for the reasons stated mainly just because it's slimming... http://imperiusdominatus.blogspot.com
