I'm toying around with a NL list right now and wonder how best to deal with the inevitable armored spearhead. If I take the NL ROW, I only get one HS slot. I could spend this on a sicaran or the heavy duty sicaran tank destroyer, but since I can only get one, that's gonna become a huge target. But that frees up the rest of the force to specialize into the things that they are best at, so doing this would give me some more list building freedom in a roundabout way. Alternatively, I could distribute anti tank duty throughout my force by equipping my contemptors with chainfists, taking a lascannon predator squadron, ect. This would force some units to be less Night Lords- esque but grant more utility in the long run while also allowing NL exclusive units to really do what they do best all day long. Thoughts?

I went to Hershey Park in central PA this year, and I have to say I was more than a little disappointed. I fully expected the entire theme park to be make entirely of chocolate, but no. Here in America, we have "building codes," and some other nonsense about chocolate melting if don't store it someplace kept below room temperature.

Personally, and this may be weird, I'm a fan of Heavy Conversion Beamer predator. Does a ton of damage top armor from the backfield, if you can place it right. The Laser Destroyer Array on the vindicator is also pretty good. Of course, there's always a 10 man missle\las cannon squad. There are a ton of options.

Vets in drop pods with meltaguns and melta bombs that and all sgts should have melta bombs as standard anyway. Rapiers are a viable crutch option as well.

If you dont short hand your list, Im not reading it.
Example: Assault Intercessors- x5 -Thunder hammer and plasma pistol on sgt.
or Assault Terminators 3xTH/SS, 2xLCs
For the love of God, GW, get rid of reroll mechanics. ALL OF THEM!

play around in your local meta for a while, and see if you really are facing a ton of tanks. worse case scenario, use your Heavy support slot for legion artilery, and use (my personal favorite, if I could afford it now) 3 medusas and drop 36" S: 10 shots

I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field.

I'm going to try and use my troop slots on Melta Bomb Assault Squads. Hoping my Gal Vorbak and Daemon spearhead draws enough fire for that to work.

Squad of three medusas? It's only one heacvy support choice but is absolutely devastating and will attract a ton of firepower as they just can't be ignored

Agreed and the opponent wont be expecting it from the Night Lords.

Artillery is very out of character for Night Lords. I'd stay clear.

A Sicaran tank destroyer, meltaguns on infantry or maybe heavy support marines is the way to go.

Might be out of normal character but Night Lords did have entire heavy armor companies as did every other legion. It isnt too hard an assumption that they also had artillery heavy units as well.

Night Lords will use and abuse whatever wins them the battle IMO.

If you have free elite slots, Mortis Dreadnought with multi-meltas and 2 hunter-killers is cheap and mobile option. Or one with 2 twin lascannons. Xiphon would be bad either, unless enemy have lots of Aa and you don't have more airplanes or you could take up to three Xiphons as LoW choice. Vindicator with laser destroyer array could work.

Victory isn't important, but great mounds of bloody skulls. From your side, if not enemy's...

I still don't think artillery feels like the Night Lords' MO, though I am sure they kept a few pieces around for when there literally is no other way.

A Grav Bombard Leviathan is suitably terrifying. Pod it in and watch it take names!
