A nice fun looking list with all my favourite units in it but as a pretty rubbish player I would like to know how this list could become more competitive.

Hq

Chaplain w/ artificer armour
Chaplain w/ artificer armour
Chaplain w/ artificer armour

Troops

20 tactical marines
20 tactical marines
20 tactical marines

Elites

Apothecarian detachment w/ 3x apothecaries in artificer armour
Rewards of treason w/ 5x tyrant siege terminators

Fast attack

6x Sky hunters w/ 2x plasma cannons
6x Sky hunters w/ 2x plasma cannons

Heavy support

Whirlwind hyperios
Whirlwind hyperios
Predator strike team w/ two press w/ magna meltas

LoW

Alpharius

Tactics are three big blobs of marines with zealot and fnp backed up by some artillery and fast jet bikes. The thing I love about HH are big blobs of marines, jet bikes in marine armies and primarchs.

What RoW are you using? If you go with the Alpha Legion one, you'll be forced to use your mutable tactics to give everything infiltrate, so be prepared for that. What squad do you plan to use as your primary alpharius carrier? Secondary? Seems like a good thing to plan out tbh. Also, I perosnally don't like the look of magna-melta's that much, but that's just me. I can't see too mnay basic flaws, but I'm new too so hopefully someone with a little more tactical acumen comes to help you

OK, so be prepared to infiltrate everything. also, I realize the point of the magna meltas, I just don;t like them because of the short range.

Holy Terra.

I hate Alpharius. He killed half my Raven Guard army last weekend, with his stupid hiding rules... Drop one Chaplain for a Praetor, give him a Paragon Blade, Archaeotyp pistol and Iron Halo, then watch the fun unfold!

but this is so much more expensive than a chaplain also my plan was to start 18 inches away move 6 inches into rapid fire range fire 120 bolter shots at them and then see if they want to charge my fnp tac squad with zealot.

You cant take 3x Chaplains in your army
Alpha Legion (or coils of the hydra RoW) only permits one consul of any type, the rest MUST be Vigilators

Sorry man, its the rules

Is there any row that this would be OK for?

Every other non-legion specific rite of war allows you to take three chaplains but you then don't get the tyrant siege terminators or the infiltrating marines, which will then get shot to pieces as you try and move your three big blobs up the table. You also are a less likely to get first turn (though 4+ is still a nice chance) which further hurts you, with your lack of protection on the marines (the apothecaries might help a bit, but you are really looking at the high strength weapons that will fire at you across the table, and then fnp is useless). You could make it work but you would need to add in more long-range options such as heavy support squads and the like, and maybe take out a tactical squad to do so.

Holy Terra.

Raven Guard gets to Infiltrate. Always. I love the 19th legion

You dont Need three chaplains. If youve already bought 3 just Claim their somthing else wth a Crosius, Claim ist a power sword.

To OP: this would be a fine list for a non RoW (about half of the time, I find you don't even need a right of war), all you would need to do to switch this to generic is drop the Tyrants (I find them a bit over rated anywho )

1) AL can always choose to infiltrate, no matter the ROW
2) 3 20-man blobs foot slogging it are super durrable, you would be supprised how long they last, even in the face of higher strength weaponry (source: I play multiple 20-man marine blobs against people who LOVE high strength weaponry, you just need to make sure that you have better targets i.e. terminators, tanks, or rapiers)
3) he doesn't need first turn for an infiltrate list to be effective, so long as he's clever with his deployment at the least.
4) Again, long range isn't an issue when you can start 18 inches away. I do agree that more AT would be helpful in the list, however.

I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field.
