Hi Dakka, I have started playing infinity recently. I have been getting the rules down, but wanted to get some advice on more advanced Nomad lists and tactics, and try and get the idea of what different people play. I usually only play against my friend's Yu-Jing ninja sectorial so I want to get an idea of how to face this and otehr factions better through some different eyes.

Some things I found notables in my travels so far (Besides the obvious that is posted on the many other nomad starter threads):

-The 0.5 SWC alguacil with forward obs and dep repeater is a great way to shoehorn both into lists, algualices are also great to fit an extra hacker in on the cheap with a respectable WIP of 13. Is running a corrigedor sectorial worth it for a link of these or wildcats?

-Kusanagi is a great (if not obvious) lieutenant if only for her survivability and +1 SWC.

-Sin eaters with HMG are great! They are not order intensive (because they work mostly in ARO) and work great in covering lanes and surviving firefights)

-Vertigo Zond + hacker/forward observer is my MVP most games. Crazy smart missiles are awesome. (Does hacking need LoF, or does the enemy just need to be in the ZoC?)

-Spectres with deployable repeaters are amazing. (Same with minelaying zeroes)

-Uberfallkommandoes are usually my 2nd MVP

A few questions I had. Should I bother with a sectorial? They seem a bit too limiting. WHat is the best way to use Morlocks and the Uberfallkommandoes? The impetuous orders seem to lead me into deathtraps more often then not, but the extra dodge on the pupniks is amazing. What comboes have you found amazingly useful?

Something I have been having particular trouble with is Oniwaban and the special character version of Oniwaban. They basicaly secret deploy next to my most important unit (Like my lieutenant) Move into base contact, an by the time my discover order activates at the end of the order he is already revealed and in base contact and instagibbes literally anything in my army. Besides trying to spread out intuitive fire, how do I deal with this?

Aftermath can be calculated.

The forward observer is 12 pts. and 0 SWC, the Alguacil that costs 0,5 SWC is the hacker.

As for the link team I'd say that they're almost always worth it. My main MVP in 9/10 games is the Alguacil HMG in a 5-man link team, spraying bullets at B5 BS14.
I wouldn't say that you should take them over, say, Wildcats as you are perfectly capable of running two link teams by switching via command tokens, which is something you almost always do when playing sectorials, instead of coordinated orders. I often run a 5-man Alguacil link team in a second group and then switch to the Wildcat link team afterwards by spending a command token on creating a new group.

As for the Wildcats, don't bother with them unless you're using them in a link team, in which case they turn into monsters. The Heavy Rocket Launcher is almost one of the most disgusting things you can dish out, as few things are capable of dealing with B3 BS16 blast weapon.

Other disgusting Nomad traits is the infamous Intruder with HMG/Sniper that surprise attacks through smoke, which 9/10 times gives -12 BS modifier to your opponent.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
As for the Oniwaban, get a Grenzer (with sensor) or a Stempler Zond and use the Sensor special skill, if you roll successfully, you will reveal anything within the sensor unit's ZoC (over a 16" diameter!) and that will force the enemy to reveal any hidden deployment units and they will lose their camo state. Defensive mines are also great.

Ah yes, my intruder is in the mail

The switching link teams is neat, but buying 2 whole link teams worth of guys seems very point heavy. WHat kind of list would utilize that? Any examples?

Aftermath can be calculated.

It's not that point consuming when choosing the right units, I mean a 5-man link team of jaguars can cost you 50 points, which isn't much more than the average HI unit. I used this list for playing Armory in my last ITS tourney and it was pretty beastly for that mission, that's 2 full link teams and 16 orders.

If you like that Vertigo + FO/Hacker so much you might consider to put some Alguacil FOs in a fireteam of five. You'll do the FO with B3 and a potential WIP 16 and in AROs you have the chance to Flash Pulse your opponents with B2 and a WIP up to 19

Omg, why did I never think of this...

Maybe because you usually succeed with the unmodded dice rolls. Someone like me, who regulary fails rolls badly (latest game: had to roll a 19 rolled a 20 three times), searches for every chance to MOD the hell out of every attribute...
