Hey all
Just ordered the 2player set get it tomorrow or Wednesday
Few questions for you all

Not painted metal mini's in a very long time my usual way was undercoat it seal it then paint it and seal it once finished to stop it chipping has any one found a better way?

How balanced is the 2 player set ?

The rule book in the box is a quick start rule book so I need to buy the main book if I like the game? I probably will any way as I am a sucker for fluff

Is there any painting guides to painting up the starter box ?not so much than I will follow it but it gives a good place to start

I seen the book the painter did is it worth buying?

1. I don't know why you'd seal the prier before painting (the primer is supposed to give the paint something to adhere to) but if it's worked for you in the past go for it!

2. I'm not sure about the actual points values of the two factions in-box but the missions are laid out to gradually introduce you to new rules as you go. Each side gets a new figure with each mission which lets you try out new rules. I'd have to get on their online army builder to get points. Try it out and let me know if you need help.

3. The rulebook in the set comes with simplified rules for the units that come with it and a bit of background. They have a free download of the full rules here. The physical rulebook has fluff and background also and is handy if you don't have wi-fi or a tablet.

4. I don't believe so, they do have some shots of other models but that's it.

5. I bought it, but haven't used it. I plan on it but haven't gotten that far into airbrushing (which is his main tool for basecoating).

You can fudge the models around to get a full 200pts of Nomads using the Grenzer as an Intruder and giving the Alguacil some roles. Medic, Forward Observer, that type of deal.

The Pan O is more fudging guns than model types. Orc gets a better gun, Father Knight gets a Spitfire. It is 12pts shy of 200, so needs a spare Fusiler for an even 200.

So it comes out to 188:193 PanO:Nomads, both with a Heavy Infantry with a Multi Rifle, both with a Sniper with the oh so awesome MSV2, but it skews in talents. Nomads is more at home being patient and using range with two Multi Rifles putting out good damage and multiple medics in an Alguacil and the Moira Doctor. The Doctor is a pretty friggin survivable character too. PanO is more aggressive. The Father Knight, Sikh and even the Orc wants to close in and do their hurt. And both have a good amount of Orders, so you're not left out in the cold.

I'm actually pretty happy with both sets and they're quick and easy to build up to better 300pts. A little more rough cutting things out though. I've grown pretty attached to everyone but the basic dudes of both sides and the Specktr.

Thanks
Reason I use to seal the primer base was I found that the gw paints where horrible on metal and after I gave the primer a light seal it was easyer to handle the miniature without the primer chipping plus the old gw sealent wasnt that great so it never sealed the model to well without a few coats so spraying it over the primer only made the primer more durable without preventing the paint to go on top from giving a good coat this is going back about 20 years as I have avoided metal minis for a very long time .

Thanks for the links will give them a look

A quick note on Angel's painting book as some people that got the book seem to not of whole read the title.

As in they missed the word Masterclass, it is not a beginner guide. He assume if you getting it you already know how to use the tools of the trade.

P.S. don't use GW paint supplies they suck. Hell their white primer isn't even a primer, but they sold for year as if it was.

Peter: As we all know, Christmas is that mystical time of year when the ghost of Jesus rises from the grave to feast on the flesh of the living! So we all sing Christmas Carols to lull him back to sleep.
Bob: Outrageous, How dare he say such blasphemy. I've got to do something.
Man #1: Bob, there's nothing you can do.
Bob: Well, I guess I'll just have to develop a sense of humor.

@noir
Yeah I read that
Was considering using it for tips rather than guides to paint.

Even if you don't airbrush, Angel's book contains many things you might try and replicate using traditional brushwork. For one, instruction in proper contrast, color selection and placement of highlights is useful stuff for any painter.

I do wish that the book contained more 28mm models and not one-off busts. Techniques for busts is significantly different due to larger surface area.

I suppose the thing is he was just passing on his techniques. He does do a lot of busts looking at his FB feed, so in many ways the book was "things what I paint"

And, there is a whole other (not insubstantial) market of pure artists that do that kind of thing, who would then have no doubt bought the book for that reason.
