Just another amazing terrain idea! Tube with dry ice is hided on a board.

No water, no danger, only dry ice and really great terrain idea!
Dry ice, sometimes referred to as "cardice" (chiefly by British chemists), is the solid form of carbon dioxide. It is used primarily as a cooling agent. Its advantages include lower temperature than that of water ice and not leaving any residue (other than incidental frost from moisture in the atmosphere).

While meilting, dry ice gives us this pretty smoke on the board!

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

Looks cool; plenty of ravines to channel it too

Just need some LEDs to give the lava a bit of a glow

I'm not sure if that takes Fog of War too far, too short (another dry ice tub on the opposite side of the board to even the look), or exactly where it needs to be.

In my case, probably too far. Not that I wouldn't love playing in those conditions, but I already lose track of models that are fully visible!

That is so cool. Wonderfully atmospheric. Any change we could get some more 'action shots' of minis on the board with the smoke?

I recall GW's blog featuring a similar thing 4-5 years ago, but applied to a Zone Mortalis board, the tunnels filling with smoke.

Great idea. However Dry Ice can be dangerous if handled incorrectly. Saying there is no danger is 100% FALSE. And you could end up with a room full of smoke.

Great idea for photographing and for the occasional bit of ffun but I think i would find it impractical for play , although i rarely play many games so take my opinion with a pinch of dry ice

Although this does look very cool and creates great atmosphere I am afraid I'm gonna have to also agree with Sammoth and chime in with some health and safety advice.

I work for a genetics lab so we use dry ice every day to transport samples and I can assure you that it is not 100% safe.

There is not just the handling aspect to consider although you could give yourself a nasty burn if you don't handle it correctly.

There is also the fact that as it evaporates it produces carbon dioxide, effectively removing the oxygen from a room.

In small amounts this isn't such an issue but if you have a lot of dry ice evaporating in a closed space there is a very real danger of suffocation.

This is why you aren't allowed to drive with dry ice in your car.

So as a safety tip if you are going to do this make sure it is in a very well ventilated room.
