Hey Dakka, I have a list I wish to collect, which includes 30 grenadier veterans. So I was wandering if anyone had any suggestions for how to add carapace to Cadian IG easily, or if there were any figures that could be used.

Cheers all

I'd also like to keep it 40k approved so that I can go to tournaments. Isn't there like a limit for how much your army can be made up of other things?

That limit changes from store to store and whether it's GW official or not. Personally I'd use legs from the new Stormtrooper kits (Tempestus Scions for you younguns) since they look better armored, and maybe bulk them out with backpacks too. You can find the legs for a little over a buck a pair on eBay when I just checked.

Paint the chest armour, ankle/shin pads and shoulder pads metallic instead of synthetic. The metal (specifically gold) for carapace armour seems to be what an old guide I found suggested.

I also suggest painting the hands as gloved instead of bare, maybe freehand an armour plate on the back of the hand too.

If you have lots of spare helmets with lenses and rebreathers you could also perhaps use them to add extra visual distinction and a bit of extra protection too!

The Tau fire warrior legs can help. I used them with a head swap for my stormtroopers. If you want all GW bits then you could go for the Cadian Hazardous Environment heads from Forge world.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

I might go with nareik's idea. Simple yet gives the right effect. Might keep the armour green, but put some metal scratches on the edges and such. The others were good, but this way is easier
