Do Chaos Daemons have a proper 30K list, or were you just using the 40K codex? Does a 30K list have the tools to deal with 40K shenanigans?

It basically just uses the 40k book, I believe word bearers can also have limited access to daemon stuff. 30k lists in general will have an uphill battle against thanos's daemons.

Against a full on daemon farm its really hard and would need a specific list to deal with, ironically being a Word Bearers list filled with magrah tal dreads and their relic.
Originally we thought we'd played this game wrong as Tempest says you need to be explicitly given Malefic to use it and the Daemon codex doesn't (as it was written in 6th), but then we found out their FAQ did give them explicit access and we were all sad again
