'Murica! (again)

We were discussing different dwarf models from a wide variety of lines in another thread which got a bit jumbled so I'm staring a new thread here. Basically, dwarfs are one of those ubiquitous races you can find in many many model lines, even the one-man operations or on Kickstarter like the Oathsworne alternate dwarfs.

The purpose of this thread is to share and explore what dwarf lines are out there and even discuss as viable alternatives to fantasy game companies, for example AoS, 9th Age, or Kings of War or Blood Bowl. As with the previous discussion everybody wins when we discuss because it opens up new model opportunities to tweak that hero or unit. Ok, so our wallets could be the losers, but hey

Here's a list of lines which have dwarf models to get us started. This list is obviously not exhaustive. As a dwarf player and avid collector my armies often remain unique by using alternate models at times and as much as possible avoid multiple poses. It's pretty cool to have my opponents get a kick out of some new dwarfs models they have never seen, right before they beat me.

Out of print, but Chronopia (target and excelsior) had some really neat primative beast themed dwarves...also Leviathan had some neat stuff for them too:

I'm glad MoM was mentioned. Good stuf, cheap, much of it single piece.

Oh man, some of that old Chronopia stuff is amazing! I've got an old standard bearer from them, and love it. Very unique style!

I posted these in the other thread, which are new creations (within the last year or so). See below!

By the way guys, I think a single example pic or so per manufacturer would really help make this thread useful

Sgt Major Miniatures have the old Vendel Norse dwarf line. Tall but better proportioned than many dwarf figures, and fairly realistically equipped. Lovely sculpts, some of my favourites ever.

West Wind make the Dwarf Wars range. They have ranges of, IIRC, Roman, Macedonian and Highland dwarfs sold in packs of 10 infantry or 3 cavalry (and yes there are several cavalry options available including wolves and goars as well as ponies). The sculpts were uncommonly big at the time, but may be worth revisiting.

Foundry have ranges of Norse dwarfs and Renaissance (Conquistador) dwarfs. Very big, very round sculpts.

Black Hat Miniatures do medieval dwarfs, Explorer (Conquistador) dwarfs and Highland dwarfs (including haggis herders!) in their Shattered Isles Fantasy line.

Anvil Industry sell Fallen Dwarfs (look under Miniatures of the North on their website). Resin, lovely crisp castings, scale well with the LotR and Hobbit ranges. There are infantry, missile and command packs and an army deal. The sculptor did produce some character figures, but they've never been released commercially.

If you want to go real old school, Viking Forge sell the Asgard range and Denizen Miniatures are still producing. Beautiful, characterful sculpts but very small.

I'll have to do pics from the work computer because the iPad would just be...frustrating for me. Haven't posted pics here before. What I had to do a few years back was create a photo bucket and have to upload each pic, get it as an "image" then post that in any post on that forum. Is that how you all do it or is there a more sensible, more convenient way to drop pics In here? Thanks!

There's a few ways to do it . To be honest, for one of the images above I just google'd it, clicked on the image I wanted, then right-clicked and selected "Copy image address".

Then I pasted it here in between image tags. You can type in image tags the following way, using square brackets instead of parantheses:

(img)http://sirenminiatures.com/sites/default/files/14315_1578226619123207_6885005772688434280_n_0.png(/img)

If I used square brackets instead, it would show the first pic from my post above!

For the second image in my post above, I couldn't find one I wanted and actually cropped my own. So, I found it elsewhere, saved it to my computer to do the editing, then wanted to upload it. To do so, I simply went to the Dakka Gallery and uploaded it there:

http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/

After uploading it you can click on your profile and there is a link to your "gallery images". Once there, you can click on an image you've uploaded, and then on the bottom right are some options to copy and paste the image code. Specifically, highlighting the text under "Forums" will give you image code you can copy and paste right into your post on the forum, and it will also make it a link back to the gallery. If you click on the second image I posted above, you can see it links to the page where it is at in the gallery

Any more questions, feel free to PM me!

Dwarf Wars is a good one, I have lots of them.
A resin one harder to find is Fenryll, they have a barbarian dwarf version of lord on shields I'm holding to do an all Norse dwarf army for some game, now.
GameZone is another treasure though slightly larger scale. You could do units entirely of these pewter models.

The pics are brilliant and extremely helpful for seeing the aesthetic of a line / manufacturer at a glance

Cheers!
