Hey, Im thinking of adding a CoF detachment to my list and I was wondering why people dont use thunder wolf cavalry instead of cyber wolves?
I mean for 120 points you get 8 cyber wolves and for the same price you get unit of 3 thunder wolves with WS5 S5 T5 and rending (albeit with 2 less wounds).

People use TWC all the time. I don't think I have ever seen someone run CoF with just fenrisian wolves. TWC also gives the bonus of special weapons, a wolf claw puts you up near daemon prince levels of damage.

Two less wounds, that is without any upgrades you can use, so the T wolves to function are going to be many more points. Can add the Cyber wolves to any unit because they are attached to an IC. Cyberwolves are part of meeting the mandatory detachment requirements(elite iron priests). I can make a change to the cyber wolves at 15 point increments, thunderwolves not so much considering the base requirements. Centralization of wounds. A d weapon kills a thunder wolf the same as it kills a cyber wolf, rather just lose the cyber wolf. Board presence. Cyber wolves are great for filling up space, enabling multi-charges, placement shenanigans, etc. When it comes to survivability it is only going from a 3+ to a 4+. With most things either being 5 or ap 3 or better it is not really noticeable.

So on and so forth

People who stopped buying GW but wont stop bitching about it are the vegans of warhammer

I get your point but what about a mix of TWC AND cyber wolves.

For example 1 Wolf guard battle leader (TW, RA, TH, SH), 2 Iron priests ( each with 2 Cyber wolves) and then 3 TWC.

Also how survivable would an allied Space wolf detachment be, assuming you didnt ally in a conclave or dark angels etc?

The company of the great wolf detachment requires 2 elite units, since Iron Priests are HQs now, just want to verify that Servitors can fill those requirements even though the Thrall special allows them to not use up force organization slot.

So 2 easy kill points. I mean having the Iron priest hit on 3s is awesome but it's not worth the risk in PtA missions.

RAW no, unless you get rid of the Iron priest.

When did Iron Priests become HQs?

Next update.

Technically for 2 more weeks (or be in denial that Curse of the Wulfen exists) the Iron Priest still has his crappy profile in Elites. Then it's off to the HQ races.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.
