I got a whole bunch of weapons bitz, ranging from bolters , plasma guns , flamers and a multidude of combi weapons that i am told are chaos. Can i? Or may i use these for normal marines? If not how can i convert them unorder to. Or is it a pointless bunch if bitz for spacemarine models?

Im going with a deathgaurd kinda thing, would using chaos bits be acceptable? I am having a hard time distinguishing what is chaos and what is not

Just use them. If anyone moans about your plasma gun having an arrow or spike on it, you can politely suggest that they reassess their priorities in life.

I don't see why not. I'd remove any marks of chaos or chaos stars. Keep skulls and so on because even loyalist marines have pretty gothic equipment!

As you say, it is hard to distinguish what is chaos anyway.

Here's an assault marine sgt with chaos legs. You can hardly tell and most people miss it.

I have a LOT of chaos bits mixed in with regular stuff for my Marines. As long as you remove the really chaosy looking stuff, it works out great.

I got some of these dragon heads and spliced it with one of the backpacks that came in the bitz box, besides the backpack itself ( as i have tac marine backpack) could this be used for a unit of tacmarines and if so whT chapter would it suit best. I am paintinv all my mods different chapters, so any founding and succesor chapters will be in a unit. Thanks for the comments thus far guys

That bit under the head on left is a loose piece of sprue clipping (not part of the backpack)

AS far as using Chaos bits go, I personally try and trim away any arrows, horns, mouths or 8-point stars. Depending on the Chapter being built, I'll remove some of the spikes and such, sometimes all.

But yeah, go for it!

That backpack looks awesome. Please post pictures when it is painted.

I wouldn't care if you stuck chaosy bits on the emperor himself, the rule of cool always prevails!

Thanks guys, i have 3 different size heads. And as far as yhe chapter goes, im starting a "imperial ghost" chapter. Basically a deathguard where every model is painted in a different chapter colour. So ANY chapter ( preferably official) you guys think a squad of that style backpack would suit. I will be having the veteran sargeant a first founding and the rest of the squad succesor chapters of that veterans chapter. Thanks for the comments

The dragon heads suggest Salamanders and their Successor to me.

Cool, then that is what it shall be, did not think of that, was thinking res dragons, but the green is a better option, as i have a bit of green paint ( from painting orks) will be posting wip picks on my other thread dedicated to this chapter. But will be posting other chaos/imperial stuff on this one for feedback and options. The spacemarine chapters are so vast i doubt one person knows everything

The biggest tell for Chaos is the star, pointed arrows and any legion symbols. Everything else isn't that different from standard loyalist fare.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

Any symbols appearing obviously Chaos (8 point star etccan generally be removed from the plastic with a knife and file with damaging any details you want to keep. Most other symbols can fit in with loyalist icography as well as Chaos.

Obviously avoid chaos god icons or the eight pointed star. Skulls, horns, and spikes are up to you. I think a lot of CSM bits can fit nicely into SM models. And at the end of the day, you can model your models however you please.

The backpack looks really cool. I did a conversion similar to that but with the longer dragon heads. Yours looks very salamander-ish (and much better than mine) so maybe go with that theme. Good luck

Actually, the pointed arrow symbol is used in loyalists as well as traitors. The most obvious example being the 'troop' squad designation on tactical marines.

I believe the original idea was the single arrow represented order, whereas the many, arrows in different directions represented chaos.

Now the pointed arrow is affiliated with both factions :S.

Chaos bitz on SM? did you hear abour Relictors?

"Faith is the soul of any army; be it vested in primitive religion or enlightened truth. It makes even the least soldier mighty, the craven is remade worthy and through its balm any hardship may be endured. Faith ennobles all of the worlds the soldier undertakes be they so base or vile, and imports to them the golden spark of transcendent purpose."
