Hey guys. I'm in the very early stages of interest in Bolt action and I got a question or two:

Can you bring lists with multiple tanks? Quickly looking around at various army lists, I see alot of single tank platoons. Haven't seen one with multiple tanks yet. But yet Warlord sells tanks in boxes of 3. Whats goin on here?

With the easy army builder site, do I have to buy the "codexs" for the faction I want to play, or can I get the rule book for now and be good to go?

Thank you for any replies

Using the Tank War! book you can take what is called an armored platoon. This allows you to take from 3-5 tanks in a single army list along with mechanized infantry.

You can use the rulebook lists, IIRC, but the "Armies of X" book contain more detailed entries.

The standard force selector is;

Reinforced Platoon

1 Lieutenant
2 Infantry squads

Plus
0–3 Infantry squads
0–1 Captain or Major
0–1 Medic
0–1 Forward Observer (either Artillery or Air)
0–1 Machine gun team
0–1 Mortar team
0–1 Sniper team
0–1 Flamethrower team
0–1 Anti-tank team
0–1 Field Artillery, Anti-aircraft or Anti-tank gun
0–1 Armoured Car
0–1 Tank, Tank Destroyer, Anti-aircraft vehicle or Self-propelled Artillery
0–1 Transport vehicle or tow (soft skins or armoured) per infantry and artillery unit in the reinforced platoon.

You can put more than 1 reinforced platoon in your force so could squeeze an extra tank in if you take small infantry squads (using less points so you have more for the tanks)

The Tank Wars supplement has a different composition allowing tanks in place of infantry so you can have many more.

Hope that makes sense.

Currently most played: Silent Death, Mars Code Aurora, Battletech, Warcrow and Infinity.
