Hey guys,

I have a suggestion relating to the addition of more Warlord Traits and Chapter Tactics that do not appear in the Space Marine Codex or any other Adeptus Astartes Codex (e.g Dark Angels, Space Wolves, etc etc) and figured this forum (40K Proposed Rules) was the best place to put it. My suggestion is that we collate existing Warlord Traits and Chapter tactics that already exist for major canon Successor Chapter Tactics and Warlord traits. This includes but not limited to Chapters such as Black Templars, Crimson Fists, Imperial Fists, Ultramarines, Blood Ravens, etc etc.

What I'm interested in is unofficial Chapter Tactics and Warlord Traits to fill in the gaps left by all the Adeptus Astartes Codices. So if they exist in an official capacity (like the Black Templars Warlord Traits existing in a special edition of WD and their old codex), I'd like to get my hands on them. For all the other major Chapters, my hope is that ensuing discussions on this thread will yield a set of Warlord Traits and Chapter Tactics that are as balanced, fair and logical as we can get them.

My ultimate aim is to have a pdf file separated into two sections which includes all of this information which I will post and continually update as we establish more Warlord Traits and Chapter Tactics.

As a side note, if you have any Chapter Tactics and Warlord Traits for your own custom Chapter or canon Chapter that isn't necessarily one of the 'bigger' ones, then post them here as well and I'll add them into a separate pdf document.

Cheers Guys

I don't remember what number WD you are talking about but I remember it happening too. FW also has a free set of chapter tactics for all of the chapters that participated in the badab war campaign.

I went to Hershey Park in central PA this year, and I have to say I was more than a little disappointed. I fully expected the entire theme park to be make entirely of chocolate, but no. Here in America, we have "building codes," and some other nonsense about chocolate melting if don't store it someplace kept below room temperature.

Personally, I prefer how FW did legion tactics for 30k: rules that can seriously help you but come with a draw back.

The only stuff on FW that I could find pertaining to the Badab War was this (which isn't free):

Though I'm curious to know if there's a free copy of the information I'm looking for, or if you (or anyone else) has these books and could help me out.

Not sure this relates to what I'm looking for, but fair call.

Crimson Fists and Black Templars have their own Warlord Traits (Templars already have their own Chapter Tactics) in one of the White Dwarf magazines that came out in 2015. Flesh Tearers have their own Warlord Traits in the Exterminatus book (also located in the eBook dedicated to them). There is also the Badab War Chapter Tactics file on FW, but it is out of date.

In terms of custom Chapter Tactics, I could see the Crimson Fists keeping Bolter Drill, but losing the Siege Masters rule. Since the Rynn's World incident, the CF have needed to be more pragmatic, so siege tactics are probably less their forte anymore. They also probably don't have access to Centurions as readily as other chapters do. What Crimson Fists do have is a higher percentage of Veteran marines running around relative to other chapters. I could see something like making the Veteran Sergeant upgrade free. They also have a high number of Apothecaries and Techmarines, but I don't know what to do with that.

We could make it so that Sternguard have ObSec a la Pedro Kantor and have Pedro make them troops.

Would the Rynns world incident have made the crimson fist devastator squads less adept at taking out tanks?

Do orks not have tanks?

I would definitely say the Rynn's World incident would give them the Hatred (Orks) Special Rule and also prevent them from taking a Techmarine.

Crimson Fists actually have a disproportionately high number of Techmarines according to most information I can find. Why would they not be able to take them? If anything, they should be able to take more.

Well I figured that the Rynn's World incident would either lead to an over-abundance of them or a highly limited use of them (in the same way to the limited use of people with psychic abilities by the Black Templars), and for some reason, the later seems to click with me. Not to mention I'd never before read the fluff relating to Rynn's World incident since I'm currently reading the book.

Maybe this could mean that among the Chapter's tactics is a bonus to the Blessings of the Omnissiah rolls or something like that.

Pedro Kantor already gives them Preferred Enemy: Orks.

It should be noted that the Crimson Fists are still 1. a codex compliant chapter and 2. an imperial fists successor chapter. I can only assume that they go to the Feast of Blades just like everyone else.

I don't think every successor Chapter needs their own Chapter Tactics, but different Warlord Trait tables wouldn't be too bad.

Yo. they also have the characters and updates for free as well.

I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field.

Righteo, well there you have it: Forge World has beaten me to it. Damn :/

Well I guess all that's left for me to do is to find and get those WD issues where all the BT and CF stuff is.

I would prefer Blood Ravens having the ability to substitute a Librarian for any HQ slot.

2000 Khorne Bloodbound (Skullfiend Tribe- Aqshy)
1000 Tzeentch Arcanites (Pyrofane Cult - Hysh) in progress
2000 Slaves to Darkness (Ravagers)

They go to the Feast of Blades. I don't think they have won recently (the Excoriators won last time by wearing the opponent down by refusing to die).

I think both the Crimson Fists and Excoriators, by virtue of being Second Founding Chapters, could deviate a little from the Imperial Fists. Excoriators characters should come with Feel No Pain like Iron Hands do (giving them +1 when they already have it) instead of Siege Masters. Or they could lose part of the benefit in exchange for FNP. They still follow a lot of the Imperial Fists Combat Doctrine, but are more survivable. Perhaps trade the +1 on the Building Damage table for +1 FNP. Crimson Fists were Ork-killing specialists even before Rynn's World. Giving them Hatred Orks won't work due to how it would interact with their Warlord Traits (one gives Hatred and PE Orks). Perhaps instead of the +1 Building Damage table, they could have something like Rage when fighting Orks.
