Subject: Filling in deep bases with stucco? Good or bad?

In place of getting all new bases for my Dark Age and Wrath of Kings models, their bases are sadly the deep kind that need filled.
Would mixing basing sand in a jar of stucco and filling it in work? I have never used stucco ever so wasnt sure if another material would be better?

Stucco is pretty likely to crack. You might try Aves Apoxie sculpt. Easy to use and won't crack into pieces like spackle or stucco can.

Tried out the stucco. It was mixed with basing marerial from woodland scenics.
Checked it out this morning and while there was no cracks, it kinda dried and shrunk back so it doesent look that much more filled then when I started.
Checked out the Aves apoxie. Looks pretty good, just the store locator seems to be broke so cant find any near me
Didnt think of pennies and glue. Usually elmers white glue has always failed me and never stuck to plastic bases.

Aves Apoxie is great for this. Amazon sells 4 lb tubs for 35ish.

White Glue and pennies are dirt cheap. Obviously, epoxy putty and pennies would be better.

Epoxy putty and BBs work as well and fit better in a slotted base if that's a concern

Kind found the secret to getting PVA glue to stick on plastic is a bit of sanding does wonders. Gives the glue something to "sink it's teeth into".

Any surface you plan to stick something to would benefit from roughing up: it gives "tooth" for the material to grab onto than a featureless flat surface.
Synthetic Stucco would probably be a better choice: it is more compatible with our paints.
See the link for the differences: http://wwwmerlex.blogspot.ca/2012/06/real-stucco-vs-synthetic-stucco.html
I used Polyfilla and have not seen any cracking or damage on my model bases for decades.

Oh yeah, I usually take one of my old X-actos and rough the inside of the base before I glue the pennies in. It seems to do OK.
