So I've been collecting some Trollblood units based primarily on aesthetics with some attention towards eventual synergies. I'm just wondering what Warlocks work best with my collection and whether or not I'm missing anything vital for running Trolls.

Cheers.

Borka
Bearka
Mulg
2x Heavy Beast Kit
2x Impaler
Axer
Pyre Troll
2x Fell Caller
Janissa
Krielstone Bearer extra blister and Elder
Full Fennblades with UA and Kithkar
Pyg Burrowers
Pyg Whelps
Horgle Ironstrike

Borka- Really likes the Trollblood Longriders Cavalry, and Warriors.

Bearka- I run him with a ton of warbeasts. Usually a bunch of lights. I like two Axers, a Winter Troll, and Rok.

Mulg- You would be hard pressed to find a better warbeast in just about any faction. Can take out a colossal/gargantuan all by himself.

2x Heavy Beast Kit- If you haven't put it together yet, then consider a Mauler- great cheap, heavy warbeast and great animus. After that, the Blitizer shoots a lot, and the Bomber throws a lot of AOE's... if you were running a ranged list, I'd suggest either one.

2x Impaler- excellent ranged light warbeast if you are running a ranged list.

Axer- I like Axer's. I like to run 2-3 of them with Bear Borka.

Pyre Troll- Probably the best light warbeast the Trolls have. It's all about Fire with this guy.

2x Fell Caller- If you are running lots of infantry, this guy is a must take. I wouldn't use two of them though.

Janissa- best solo Troll you can take. So much utility...

Krielstone Bearer extra blister and Elder- A staple unit in just about every list. The ARM buff is critical to the success of many Troll lists.

Full Fennblades with UA and Kithkar- Excellent melee unit, but you should really consider Warriors, Champions, and Warders (even with the recent Nerf, they are good).

Pyg Burrowers, Pyg Whelps- Both of these units are "specialized"- pretty much requiring the right warlocks, support units, and solos to work the best. Hint: It's not most of the models in this list.

Horgle Ironstrike- He is a "lesser warlock" and likes Slag and Pyre Trolls. The problem with these lesser Warlocks is they create their own warp pack that is typically around 10 points, and they hardly ever perform up to expectations. Having multiple warbeasts on a very squishy solo means all I have to do is kill a 12/15 and 8 health model to make 2-3 warbeasts frenzy and then run off the table. In other words, giant bulls-eye on this guy's head if you run a warp pack with him.

What warlocks will work best with the models you have? Calandra, Captain Gunbjorn, Hunter's Grim, Jarl Skuld, and pHoarluk. Basically, you have a lot of ranged models, so I'd look at the ranged warlocks, and even then, you are missing a lot of key models/units to work with that list.

If your heart is set on Borka, then you're going to want to pick up Longriders, the UA and the solo, and run his theme list.

I'm not going to tell you what you should and shouldn't play with. If you are new to the game, then play with whatever you want and learn how to play the game first. You might like the way that warlock with the huge mace and beer keg looks, but discover that Hoarluk is more your play style.

If you already know how to play, then I encourage you to visit the official Privateer Press forums and look up the Trollblood forums, where they will have a ton more of information and advice for you. One of the great things about the Trolls is the ability to play multiple play styles (shooting, melee, "tarpits") and still be pretty effective/fun.

Thank you for the very thorough response. I'll be magnetizing the Heavies for flexibility. I appreciate you taking the time to break things down.
