I found a 30 year old construction toy kit and am thinking of Orkifying it into a terrain piece.
However its:
A. truely ancient
B. hard, shiny plastic
C. has various stickers and decals on it

What sort of primer would you recommend using on it? Will any primer work? A good plastic primer? oil, acryrilic, water based?

I intend once suitably primed to paint it with GW sprays and paints.

Im clueless here

Krylon 'Colormaster' Primer would be my suggestion if you have access to it. It's relatively cheap, will really "bite into" and hold onto that type of plastic very well comes in a selection of colors (prefer grey and ultraflat black myself ) and goes on very smooth.

Thanks. Any idea if you can get it online this side of the pond?
Like from or big retailers etc?

You're spot on in terms of needing something with "bite" that will coat the shiney plastic and allow me to use Gws water based range on it.

To my knowledge most big box retailers and hardware stores carry it or a version of it. Though my knowledge extends mostly just to the UK.

Try a local hardware store, or chain store similar to Walmart/Target etc most of them carry at least some select in their home improvement sections

To get the stickers off, spray with WD40 & wait a couple of minutes. You should be able to rub them off with a kitchen towel. You will have to wash the toys afterwards to get rid of the oil.
For better priming you could rub down with fine grade wet & dry paper.

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

Ratius, if there are any True Value Hardware stores in you area they should have it.
