So I'm getting back into X-Wing and am very much drawn to the Scum ships, as well as the heavy firepower they can boast. This is my first attempt at a pretty straightforward 100 point list.

Bossk, YV-666, “Mangler” Cannon, Greedo

Cartel Spacer M3-A “Scyk” Interceptor, “Heavy Scyk” Interceptor, “Mangler” Cannon

Cartel Spacer M3-A “Scyk” Interceptor, “Heavy Scyk” Interceptor, “Mangler” Cannon

I am a big fan of the YV-666, but was worried about giving it worthwhile support. By cutting a few of the common upgrades for the 666, I can fit in 3 Mangler interceptors, giving me a nice ship count for 100 points with a ton of firepower.

Generic PS2 Mangler Scyks haven't performed very well for the points. For myself or anyone else I believe. Which is sad, because I really really really wanted to love the Scyk after playing SWG for a long time. FFG even included nostalgic nods to the MMO with the Tansarii Point Veteran, Laetin A'shera and Serissu pilot cards.

Anyway, back to the present: the Scyk lacks in durability and a dial that's just not quite good enough. If it had a dial like the TIE FO for the same price it is now, I think it would be more usable and viable.

As for what we have, if you'd like to use the Scyk and the YV-666 (not a bad idea as the 666 rocks) you should try using a flechette cannon on the Cartel Spacer, to keep it cheap, and then add Gunner, Tactician and the Bossk crew card to your Trandoshan Slaver. Being the same PS, you can shoot with your Scyk first, stressing the target once then slap it with two stress with Tactician and Gunner. Bossk makes sure that second shot REALLY hurts.

This still leaves you points to play with other options like a Firespray, HWK-290, Kihraxz fighters, an Aggressor or the upcoming Jumpmaster/G-1A.

Bossk as a main threat is not a bad idea. I prefer outlaw tech and calculation or Marksmanship and Gunner. To take advantage of his auxiliary firing arc. Without that, he's not much better than a Shuttle. Greedo is a pass. Even with his 6 shields, that upgrade will come back to bite him eventually.

Supporting Bossk with Serissu with VI and Tractor Beam (or Zuckuss with Tractor beam I suppose, though it's more expensive and less useful) will make Bossk's attacks even scarier. And can mitigate some of the return fire. And who doesn't love rerolling their 1 agility die?

This will leave you with few points though. Maybe enough for a Kihraxz Black Sun Ace with Crack Shot and/or Glitterstims or a couple of Z95s with or without feedback arrays.

Whatever you choose, good luck and fly casual!

Hm. In theory, there are good synergies on that list. Bossk drains the enemy of shields and, with Greedo, has a guaranteed faceup damage card per turn, while the M3s score crits. Also, presenting the YV-666 as a juicy target might help the M3s last a little longer.

However, the 666 is not that tanky. With only 1 evade and no defensive actions nor regeneration options, it will drop as soon as the enemy zeroes on it, maybe with a bit of help from Greedo himself. Alternatively, your opponent can choose to target the Scyks, who have the horrible habit of exploding the moment someone takes a hard look at them.

It's a "looks good on paper" list IMO, but hey, might be fun to try.
