If Astartes have Fortress Monasteries and the like, what is the Sister of Battle equivalent? An abbey? A Citadel?

Convents, Priories, Cathedrals, a building-sized Church-tank (according to the artwork), fortified shrines...

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

The wider Adepta Sororitas acts in a fairly similar way to Nuns in the real world, with millions of minor Orders spread across countless Imperial worlds, providing services such as Translation, Transcription, Medical Care, Child Protection, Tutelage and Humanitarian Aid. When it comes to the Orders Militant (of which there are relatively few, of course), they can be found in Convents and Nunneries, and will provide bodyguards to Ecclesiarchal VIPs, as well as occasional Civil Protection duties alongside Precinct Enforcers and local Magistratum personnel.

I expect most largish cities in the Imperium will have a Sororitas presence of some sort, and many will have a good few Convents, any of which could serve as staging points for Sisters sent from other, more distant Orders.

It's worth remembering that the Adepta Sororitas is a civil body, rather than a military one, so they'd be a lot more visible than, say, Tempestus Regiments. I expect a small inner-city Priory might contain twenty Sisters under a Superior, while a larger Abbey might hold a host of, say, a hundred. There will also be mobile bases, and I doubt any trade ship or pilgirmage craft would refuse if a bunch of armed Sisters asked for passage. The same applies to trains, freight convoys and civilian flights. There are all kinds of unglamorous, cheap ways that a detachment of Battle Sisters might move without the need for a big walking Cathedral.

Also: 'Cloisters' (my personal favourite for a SoB base title).

Other than that there are only roughly 5 to 12,000 Sisters in each of the Major Orders - and most Minor Orders are less than 100 Sisters - this is pretty true.

Most planets wont' have any Orders Militant presence, and most of the planets that do have one will only have one or two battle sisters at the major shrine on the world.
