I decided to build an Orks army themed around the Strongarms, my half-orc group from the LARP I play.

I'm building and converting a load of vehicles for this army. Painting will be slow, but the converting/building will be pretty energetic for the time being.

So far I've gotten started on an Ork Battlewagon with swappable turret. Currently I'm building the Zzzap Gun for it. But I'll be doing a Kannon and a Lobba for it too. I want the big gun to look like a giant version of a cheesy 1950s sci-fi ray gun. LOL

Inside the battlewagon is going to be the Kill Cannon. I'm going to be putting Boyz with heavy weapons on the side platforms, to represent either 4 rokkits or 4 big shootas.

The smaller vehicles are going to be Warbuggies/Wartrakks.

These are all very much works in progress.

Nearly done with the Battlewagon now. Zzzap Gun, Killcannon, Deff-Rolla, and Rokkits.

Pretty happy with how it's coming together. It'll look better with primer, though; it's at that awkward stage where the hodge-podge conversions are super obvious, still.

And some more pics!

This is the start of my Attack Kopta. I figure my Orks wouldn't let a perfectly good Falcon go to waste. They'd gut it, put a diesel engine & a big-ass rotor on it, and get it flying again.

I'm gonna use this model as a counts-as Dakka-Jet. I wanted a second one, and I have a load of the AOBR Deff-Koptas. I thought a giant Kopta to be the "leader" vehicle for them would look awesome on the tabletop.

Hobby shortcut I discovered when I was building this guy; I wanted a way to attach the rotor & make it removable for storage, but I didn't feel like messing with magnets or pins. So it occurred to me that I could use a plain old pen for it. I cut down the pen's cap and attached it to the Kopta's turret area. Then by using the body of the pen to make the rotor spindle, it fits perfectly into the cap. Sits nice & snug, can be moved easily, and detaches/re-attaches for transport & storage.

I made a pintle-mounted cannon thing and situated it on the wing. Figured this would be the Ork version of a door-mounted mini gun.

The Ram at the front, for ramming other vehicles in mid-air.

That pen-cap thing I described earlier:

I ran three brass rods through the pen, attached sprue to them, and built the rotor blades up around that.

The object of a game is to win. The *point* of a game is to have fun. Never confuse the two.

Thanks!

Astro: Not sure. The Kopta still has a ways to go. I'm going to add some rokkits or bommz, and landing rails/skids. And it seems like it needs some more Dakka. Thinking an under-slung weapon of some kind.

Lovin' the Attack Kopta!

"Orkses never lost a battle. If we win we win, if we die we die fighting so it don't count. If we runs for it we don't die neither, cos we can come back for annuver go, see!"

I dig how in a setting where giant, muscled fungus men ride Mad Max cars and use their own teeth as currency, the concept of little engineering dudes with beards was considered a step too far down the aisle of silliness.
