'Murica! (again)

Today my calendar informed me it's St. Patrick's Day. I'm an American still in Sweden where they don't celebrate/binge drink it so I'll need my daily dose of ST.P green today. Thus heavy emoticons and good ol' Dakka's got my back. Too bad there's not an ork emoticon slamming a tall beer.

Heh. I'm the only Irishman working in my school and I forgot to wear green today. Ah well. Last year I went with a green jumper, white top and orange tie and someone say "Oooh, very Italian!"

It's nicer abroad. Dublin is a chaotic boozy mess on Paddies Day, which I never enjoyed. I'd like the day off to go fishing though, which was my usual response!

I feel sorry for any Irishmen in America today, having to endure everyone claiming to be Irish and doing all kinds of Irish things like dressing as Leprechauns and wishing everyone a happy St. "Patty's" day. Godspeed to you, it'll be over soon...

I put on a green shirt, and I'll have a Reuben sandwich for lunch. Maybe corned beef and cabbage for dinner, if I'm lucky. It might not be the proper way for St. Patrick's day, but it's the tradition I was raised on. And I'm 1/4 Irish. So I'm good with it. Wish I had a copy of Darby O'Gil and the Little People to watch though...

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Despite my family identifying as Italian, we're apparently 75% Irish Unfortunately, I have no green clothes, so I guess I'm a bad Irishman

I'd offer to drink you share for you, but I live in Boston and will have enough trouble simply living through my own.

I’ve got a small, but measurable, bit of Irish blood in me, so do the typical american thing today. Corned beef is simmering away as we speak. And while I mock The Wife on her beer choice (Corona) I do have to grant that it turns a brilliant emerald with very little color. My Guinness takes toxic levels of dye to even show.
Hope everyone enjoys their day, no matter how you celebrate.

Happy St Patricks Day all! May the snake bashing be good and the beer drinking even better.....
