As above.
Does the apothecary have any utility in lists?
In this instance I'm building a RG list but wanting to old school it with some what I have lying around. Is his FNP narthecium good enough in a command squad or should I spend points elsewhere.
For the record I would only add the command squad for the apothecary and the list would be for a fairly chilled semi comp environment.
Thanks

Pretty good in a Command Squad, but to get the most out of him take the Red Scorpions CT and upgrade all your Sergeants to Apothecaries for free!

FnP on bikes is always fun, especially with Smashbane in tow.

They add another layer of survivability to the squad, including anyone joining it. My big problem with them is remembering to make the FNP roll. But that’s just because I don’t field them that often.

Havent played in a long long time, and I'm an old git. What is Smashbane - or should I not open the rabbit hole of the names you kids use these days?

Some names are silly. “Smashbane” Is a tricked out chapter master on a bike. Usually with a artificer arnor, thunderhammer and the Shield Eternal. This gives him a T5 2+/3++ with eternal warrior. Add in the apothocary for the 5+++ FNP and he makes a very tough, very killy HQ. The Iron Hands supplement kicks it up a notch with “Smashf**er” replacing the SE with the gorgon’s chain, which does similar, but better, things.

I used smashy once and he wrecked the PRIMARCH Konrad Curze in a 1v1. His apothecary got a medal after the fight.

I played a game with nids against smasher. He fought most of the army and killed it losing only a single wound which he regained the next turn.

So...Apothecaries are a good buy when companying my leader dude, with hammer thing, in super special armour, with super special protection....Good to know.
Now, as a side note is a captain on a bike, with the rest of the gear any good - or possible?
Should I get an apothecary to accompany a chappy on a bike?

A bike command squad with an Apothecary is amazingly resilient. I just added this build and they soaked up 2 turns of regular fire plus two rounds of multi-unit overwatch fire from several hundred points worth of Tau, freeing the rest of my force to approach almost unscathed. I ran mine with a Librarian and enjoyed the ability to target one thing during the psychic phase and then shoot/charge something different. The only hard part was the models, but I bought the Ravenwing Command box and that plus some bits got me my Apothecary and Librarian in robes plus an extra biker; you could probably work a Chaplain with a bit of effort and some skulls.

In general, apothecaries are a good buy especially on bike units. S10 is relatively uncommon so you're always going to get the roll.
All it takes is for you to pass a single FNP roll for any version of an apothecary to make his points back.
