My friends and I are looking to start Infinity and we've agreed on no TAG's for the time being. That said, I haven't a clue over what looks best and I'm not sure if my friend who is interested in PanO is ready to split IceStorm (I have a Nomads list that I'm happy with for 150). If it turns out they don't want to, then I think I will go Haqqislam (I really dig their lore) so this is the list that I think has everything I need to get to grips with the game with.
Would this list be OK for a beginners game? The only really non-flexible units are the starter box since that's where I will get my purchase regardless of Nomads/Haqqislam and the Lasiq as I think the model looks amazing.
Looks good. Personally I'm not a fan of the Janissary Doctor as he's a bit of a points sink, so instead I would ditch him for a standard Ghulam Doctor Plus with Nasmat and spend the rest of the points on as many Ghazi Muttawi'ahs as I could squeeze in.
In a low points game that Janni will do well though. I'd try to drop some extras and get him a Nasmat though so he doesn't have to run all around healing.
Maybe split the Kum into two Ghazis?
"Holy Sh*&, you've opened my eyes and changed my mind about this topic, thanks Dakka OT!"
I'm cool with dropping the Kum, it's a nice model that I'm looking to get at some point but it might be a bit much for 150 point beginners.
Sadly, I forgot to mention in the OP, we aren't allowing remotes either. I might be able to swing it though, I think when remotes weren't allowed it's the automated turrets (like the Nomads Reaktion Zond), so Nasmat's might be a go.
If it is allowed, drop the Kum for a Nasmat, one Ghazi Muttawi'ah and change the Daylami into the Camo versions? (two points left and didn't know how else to spend...)
The other option is to change a Ghulam into a doctor and shuffle points around for two Nasmats. If I do end up changing a Ghulam, which would be the best to change?

You'd be relying on sniper rifles for your ranged hitting, and the naffatun and janissary for the up close and personal. I would not use this with missions that require many specialists though, unless you agree to change the rules for that ( ie every unit can be a specialist.)

Akbar Doctor is a liability compared to Haqq's regular Doctor Plus dudes because you're healing on unmodified WIP, and unless you're healing a 2W dude it's providing zero benefit.
Also, IMO in that list you want to keep the doctor close to the Lasiq to keep her Viral Snipe thumping away, and doing that with a Jannissary is like punching Allah in the face. He wants to be up close shooting folks.
IMO you should consider using that Janni as an Al Fassed - very similar, but they have cubes (rerolls on heals with a command token) and more interesting basic weapon loadouts IMO.
Finally, all of this advice presumes that you're playing Annihilation or YAMS. Otherwise you don't have enough Specialists IMO.
Drop troops are fun (haven't used a Ragik, but have faced a Tiger or two).
Only tricky part is being down an order when you already don't have many. Conundrum will most likely be timing his arrival to have the most impact while still ensuring that you have the orders to put him to work.
Managed to scour my local gaming score and purchase a Ragik w/ Spitfire, any good? Tbh I thought it looked swell.
Ragiks are particularly dangerous because of Dogged. Not only does it allow you to continue your rampage past a lucky ARO, but if it's your only option as you're opponent has deployed well, you can drop him within LOS of an enemy model, eat the bullet and go Dogged.

Looks good! Only thing I'd do is make the Naffatun your Lt if it's the same pts. Not sure. Frees up the Janni to go full Rambo if necessary. It's a trade off since it makes your Lt. More vulnerable.

It is, so keep the Naffatun back and let the Janni go forward with the rest of the army and support the Ragik? Saves me 0.5 SWC too for when we expand to 200.

With a Nasmat he's in the fight while remote babysits.
It's all personal preference though.
Wow...didn't realize that. Good catch!
Not only is the Jannisary Doctor a Doctor Plus in addition to being an Akbar Doctor (though can only use on at a time), he's also a MOV 4-4, WIP 14, ARM 4, W 2 specialist. He's one of the best specialists in the game.
