Ok, so I'm a total Thousand Sons fan, but it's going to be a while until they get good stuff.

So I've been reading into other legions, and the IW are just amazing, I love the nitty gritty trench slogging artillery feel.

But here's the thing, I don't want to spend money on models for 2 armies.

Could I do a color scheme that's like I hybrid between the 2 armies? I could play them off as 2 seperate company's, but the models would kind of double count?

is this a good idea? and how would I combine the color scheme, any suggestions?

Play a shattered legion so you can use both TS and IW. Or just magnetize the shoulder pads and paint the bodies a bright silver.

If you wanted to, you could do a 'blackshields' force - that's essentially a force that's gone "screw the lot of you" and struck out on its own.

The one warning I'll give you; Thousand Sons are likely to have an army list noticeably different to other legions. As a result, regardless of their colour scheme, the 'building block' units are likely to be different.

Personally, I'd go with TheCustomLime's suggestion - do a Shattered Legions force, or a force of one with an allied detachment of the other, and mix them.

You'll need your Warlord to be from the Alpha Legion in order for your Alpha Legionaries to get Mutable Tactics, if you run the Death Guard Commander as the WL you wont get them.

Thanks for the suggestions, I considered running BS or SL, and it's definitely still a possibility, but I don't want to rule out using the models as both.

Can't you just play TSons with Iron Warrior rules until TS get their own? Really easy fluff fix for Tyrant Termies; they aren't loaded with big guns, they are blasting warp powers at their enemies.
Either that or shattered/blackshield. I really wouldn't be a fan of trying to make a colour scheme/aesthetic that is supposed to work for two entirely different legions. One should look like noble warrior scholars with some signs of occult, the other should be brutish slabs of machinery and grime.

As long as you tell your opponent before each game, they shouldn't have a problem with a "counts as" T'S army until they get unique rules.
