see that they've just released rules to use the models from Deathwatch: Overkill in 40k, but what about rank and file Deathwatch Marines? There used to be rules for generic Kill Teams and for upgrading models within Codex Marines squads to Deathwatch veterans. Does anything like this exist in 7th?

Nope, just Sternguard, m'boy,

There is some stuff that can be gleaned from the rules for Kill Team Cassius.
A lot of characters can take Pistol Sternguard ammunition for 5 pts.
No chapter tactics.
Deathwatch frag cannons are 25 pts.
A Master-crafted Power Fist and Master-crafter Meltagun cost 15 pts on a Terminator (call it 5 pts for the MC on the Power Fist, 5 pts for the Meltagun plus 5 pts to make it MC).
Bascially all characters are built from the Codex: Space Marines Generic HQs, Command Squad, Sternguard Veteran, Vanguard Veteran, and Terminator units. Wolf Guard, Dark Angels Veteran, and Dark Angels Command Squad may be substituted in as well, maintaining all their options.

Yep, no official rules for a kill-team without the special characters, and nothing I saw gave any specifics on what faction they are considered, and how they incorporate into the force org. True, you can get a same diff kind of thing with Sternguard, but I might really like to field a vanilla kill-team with that Frag Cannon sometime all official like.

Unless they release a kit for generic Deathwatch that consists of something more than just some shoulder armor and Sternguard bolters, I doubt we will ever see any official rules for anything other than Kill Team Cassius.

No rules to play Deathwatch other than the overkill rules.
They did have rules for generic Deathwatch sqauds to add into your army and even a way to play an entire Deathwatch army but that was back in 3rd ed.

Why not just use the First Company Task Force? It is, by far, the most versatile choice with Sternguard, Vanguard, Terminator, and Assault Terminator squads being available.

Yeah First Company Task force makes for a good Deathwatch substitute. Just pretend that the Xenos threat is so extreme that they had to use 3 Kill Teams (hence the Extremis Level Threat rule in the First Company Task Force rules!). Add an Inquisitorial Detachment with an Ordo Xenos Inquisitor and you're good to go.

Oh yes, THAT Kill Team. Not exactly what I was after. I was looking for rules to incorporate generic Deathwatch Kill Teams specifically into your list for regular games of 40k. A Deathwatch themed Kill Team for games of Kill Team would be fun too though.

Aren't Kill Teams restricted to 200 points? That could be a little tough with Kill Team Cassius running 600.

what were the rules that had the grav stabilized heavy bolters? In today's nomenclature they would have been salvo, but it is about all that I remember of those particular rules. . .

Yes he is, but they made a re-appearance in a WD battle report some time in 5th. I'll try and find the issue and post up what the exact rules were. (I assume editions-old rules are fine to post and wouldn't break any sort of forum rules or Gw taboo?)

Well, suspensors exist in Horus Heresy now. They essentially halve the range of the weapon, but make it Assault instead of Heavy, for a points cost. My solution to playing Deathwatch is the bringing the First Company Strikeforce formation (Sternguard, Vanguard and Terminator), Reclusiam Command Squad (for a Chaplain and Command Squad), Librarius Conclave (for the easy Librarians) and an Allied Detachment (Captain, Scouts, Venerable Dreadnought, LSS, and Stromraven). I try not to take any barebones bolters except in the Sternguard Squad, and make sure each unit has a transport option, jump pack or deep strike. Best part is, they can be brought alongside my Primary Detachment (probably AM in this situation) and serve as a full Allied contingent. It's a large kill team, but anything above a single Sternguard Squad would be a large kill team anyway. Just Forge the Narrative and say that you're facing an exceptionally dangerous xenos.

Even old rules are protected by copyright laws. Best to consult with a moderator first if there is any doubt.

I was hoping we'd get some props generic deathwatch rules. Alak and alas, 'twas not to be the case. To be fair there are plenty of flavours of marines already.
