Hey guys just gathering some general opinions. What do you consider good door prizes to a tournament for a $15 entry fee?
Would you rather have a greater value door prize or everyone who shows up gets a small item, (like a paint pot grab bag)?

Depends. Do you have those 1-2 guys in your area that are known for being really good (maybe some will call them less flattering things) that keep winning every tournament they go to, to the extent that other people see them and go "welp, let's see who gets third!"
If you have those, then go for smaller prizes. Otherwise a large portion of the people playing might feel a little defeated when they see the same people levering the grand prize over and over.
If you don't have those, do bigger prizes. If there's a *chance* to get that big prize, especially for people that haven't won a lot, it can create some pretty intense games.
Also, the bigger the prizes, the more on point your judges have to be, because when there's a lot on the line, people tend to get more fussy with the finer details of the rules.

I am always impressed by Tournament Organizers that take the time to make Custom awards for things like "Best Painted", "Best Sportsmanship", and "Best General".
These awards don't cost a lot, and are appreciated by everyone.
I don't need another rhino or tactical squad. Give that to the new kids. I'll take this any day of the week.

Agreed. I actually had my wife frame a certificate I won at a LGS tourney for best painted (sure, there were only 15 people there, but feth it, I felt special). Put some effort into it. I can buy a tactical squad, but stuff like this really makes people feel like they earned it

Those purity seals are pretty bitchin'. I'd stick that on my armour.

For the tournaments we used to run here, the entry fee would be divided into three parts.
Half would go to first in the forum of Store Credit.
The other half would be divided between two Random Door Prizes.
And on the larger events 1st and 2nd and last place would all get a custom Trophy. Last place usually had some sort of joke plaque on it so it was all in good fun, one event the trophy were "opposite"
First got a tiny Trophy
Third got the biggest and fanciest Trophy, was fun times.

I know the one tournament I've gone to for the past couple of years generally gives out little dice with their club's emblem on them. It's actually kind of nice and eventually you end up with a solid dice-base of freebies.
