So I've flipped through the Crusade Army List, checked the index, but I can't find an entry for vanilla bikers? There's Attack Bike and Outrider units, but I seem to be missing vanilla bikers?

Not a huge deal, as I've an idea for a special snowflake modeling project which would probably fit outriders better, but I'm just a little surprised if they don't exist.

Outriders are your basic bikes for 30k. There is no "space marine bike" entry at all.

So.. Outriders are normal bikes?

Quick follow up question, if I'm reading it right, should I wish to upgrade the bike weapons, it's an all or nothing affair? So if I upgrade to flamers, all the bikes have flamers and I pay the points accordingly?

from what I can see: yes, they all need the same weapon, and you must pay for each one. i.e. no mix-and-matching. if you want plasma, you're going all out on that plasma

Hoof! That makes even a minimum size unit pretty pointy for 3 wounds.

Wasn't what I had in mind for them, but now I'm going to wonder how much hurt 10 twin linked, out flanking Plasma Guns can inflict...

yah, if one bike upgrade it's bolters all the bikes upgrade their bolters.

personally I think the better way to run them is leaveing them with twin-linked bolters, give your 1in3 guys power axes, srg+power fist, and melta bombs for whole squad. It seems alot more points effective. 3 man squad equiped like this are 145 points, and are a pretty flexible little unit that dosen't draw as much fire as the crazy expensive plasma biker units you see people hype. I figure best to hold them in reserve and then use them to hunt down stuff like rapier crew, units depleted from shooting, and/or melta-bombing that land raider that have been rolling across the board.

Giving the outriders the gun upgrade bassicly turns them into a twin-linked legion support squad on bikes, and that's a VERY expensive unit for what it can do at the end of the day. It also draws ALOT of your enemies fire power due to the threat that many specail weapons in one unit can pose.

As a death guard player I don't know too much about them tactically, however I am getting 3 of them soon for testing with my thousand sons. I think, even though costly, a 3-man squad outflanking with plasma would make a good distraction/ anti-terminator nuke.
