What do people use for their spawn models out of interest? Not including the hideous actual spawn models of course

My friend got the horrible spawn models, and then he doubled the amount by using the parts together with greenstuff and parts of other models. It turned out awesome. I wish I had some pictures. He has one that is wearing two pieces of Tau armour at random and it looks like a Tau just exploded into this grotesque thing.

I made tentacles and green stuffed them on to faceless Pink Horror models (since I use them for tzeentch themed Renegades)

I made tentacles and stuck them together with a few heads and weapons. Not the greatest, but definitely the cheapest.

Could have been better if I knew more about sculpting.

Greenstuff and a box of guardsmen.

Although I bought five of the old metal ones for £20. So I can't complain.

Not particularly grotesque, but I use Warriors of Chaos Gorebeasts from the chariot kit. They all look pretty uniform and they're armoured, but I really like the look.

Old metal spawn. I don't mind the new plastic ones though.

I use the Spirit Hosts from AoS as my spawn, as I originally played Crimson Slaughter. They are haunted by the voices of their victims, so spectral spawns seemed fitting - Plus you get 3 models for less than the price of 2 Spawn, so getting 15 spawn were pretty cheap.

Now that I'm playing Word Bearers, I still use them - I can always call them Warp Entities and move on from there I really like the models and they are roughly the same size as the Spawn models. You just have to buy the bases seperately as they haven't been re-released with round bases yet.

I quite like the Spawn kits but am always happy to get some more on the cheap.
Green stuff and tentacles seems to be the way to do it, throw in a few bits of armour from whatever race is most appropriate and voila

I've been playing a while, my first model was a lead marine and my first White Dwarf was bound with staples

I'll probably use Crypt Horrors as the basis of mine, should I ever be compelled to build any (which I will, no doubt when I should be concentrating on other projects..)

I use the forge world Gal Vorback. The only thing that doesn't fit is that they still got power armour showing but I like to think it just represents there high toughness.

I ordered a bunch of sea shells that I'm going to make into nurgle snails. They will work as both spawns and Beast of nurgle.
