Here is my new list that incorporates one of the new Crimson Slaughter Formations, I chose this one because I have a lot of cultists and having any units within 6" of the apostle have Zealot and within 9" having LD 10, cause Fear AND within 18" have Frenzied Horde will be a fun way to bring a horde army to the table. One of my concerns with this list is the lack of heavy hitting options, as armor would literally rip through me in most cases, hence the havocs and oblits. Heldrakes are fun to have around so I included 2, and will be a fun distraction as I close the gap between my cultists and opponent.

I do have 2 questions regarding my Lord build, as he stands I gave him the sigil of corruption (4++), why would anyone take the Aura of the Dark Gods (5++) over this upgrade of SoC is only 10 points more?? Also, what type of power weapon, or CCW is best for a lord such as this? They all cost the same excluding the power fist and I don't quite understand which is considered the best.

Without further ado, here is my list

Crimson Slaughter Cults of Slaughter Formation (550 Points)

Apostle 150 Points
-MoT
-Crozius of the Dark Covenant

Cultists (x4 Squads) 100 Points Each
-1 Cultist Champion
-19 Cultists
-2 Flamers

Iron Warriors CAD

HQ
Chaos Lord 120 Points
-Power Maul
-Sigil of Corruption
-MoT

Troops
Cultists (x2 Squads) 50 Points Each
-1 Cultist Champion
-9 Cultists

Fast Attack
Heldrake (x2) 170 Points Each
-Bale Flamer

Heavy Support
Havocs 155 Points
-1 Champion
-4 Haovcs
-4 Lascannons

Obliterators 210 Points
-3 Obliterators
-MoN

Thanks for reading!

Being able to roll a D6 per unit within 18" of my DA to see how many slain cultists can come back per turn is too much of a gimmick for me to ignore and less than 20 cultists is not completely viable if I want them to do anything besides sit on an objective

I get it. Its a lot of tar pit. Keeping the apostle alive will be the tricky part.. maybe a transport?

I'd want to mix in some punch.. Chaos lord is a start but...
I would probably use a daemonkin CAD to get the extra blood tithe benefits.

I do not currently own KDK, is it that much more beneficial to run a CAD from it? As in, is it worth it to buy the supplement?

I'm not sure I see how you're going to win game since you can't really kill anything and anyone with any brains is just going to focus down a cultist squad at a time and they're not that hard to kill.

The AoDG is available for those HQ'swho can't take a sigil, such as a warpsmith.

As for your lord, he's pretty terrible as you have him. If you're rocking a 3++, there's basically no reason not to give him an axe or fist since you're likely to survive to swing it. If you're already wasting your time with MoT for the 3++, then there's no reason not to give him a disk so he can be a T5 Jetbike (unless you want him in a transport) so he's not doubled out by krak missiles or opposing power fists.

Overall, you really need to question why your lord isn't a sorceror, since you've already got the fearless/Ld 10 gimmick from your apostle, unless you want to rock a juggerlord, but even then, he's not as competitive as he used to be.

If you want to go KDK, be aware that you have to take MoK on everything, no other marks allowed, so if you want to maintain your tzeentch theme, you're out of luck.

I would say most people would focus on the drakes first, sure they could fire away at the cultists, but that wont kill all of them in a single turn, I wanted to keep the lord cheap, while giving him staying power in a fight, and to soak up some fire power

And in case you didn't realize, I am playing chaos and thus going for a unique build, if I wanted to win I would use my Necrons
