Which company has better cases and foam trays? In terms of quality, price, durability, etc.
For reference, I've got a Dark Angels (Ravenwing) army that's gotten sick and tired of that old shoebox.

i got battlefoam trays. They are good trays. I got the custom necron shaped ones for my vehicles/larger pieces. I didn't get a case for them. I find the foam is quite strong, i use it for storage at home, and have a large cardboard box they fit in quite well for transport if need be.

Battlefoam is really good quality, i got some pre-made ork trays, they hold up well, planning on getting a bag in the future from them. the custom tray creator is also really cool

I went KR. Their whole deal is "soft" foam, so its like an actual cussion your minis go into.
Works exceptionally well for lightweight minis, especially odd shaped ones like skitarii and space marines on the bigger bases. I also store Bolt Action minis with thin plastic rifles and long bayonets and the foam is perfect for it. I have a couple battlefoam trays in another case and have had bad luck with that letting them flop around and break. However, it can be a bit annoying if you have a primarily metal army as the KR foam has no solid bottom, which makes it floppy when removing trays.
Also, I love the case system idea they have. The idea is that all cases are built around these cardboard suitcase looking cores. These are respectable cases in their own right as long as they don't get wet, but the real perk is that they're designed to fit into larger carrying bags and backpacks. So once you have a carrying bag like a kaiser 2, you're set. Instead of having to buy multiple bags like you would need with battlefoam, all you need is the cardboard cases. Then you can swap them in and out as you please. So you can have a cardboard case or two for each army stored in your closet, and when it comes time to go to the FLGS, you open up your Kaiser or whatever, slap the cases in and you're set. Very clever system and works great.

If you want to expand by just buying trays then the more sturdy BF trays definitely have the advantage.
If you don't like the idea of loose trays laying around (very difficult to pull one tray out of a large stack) then KR's card cases make expanding much cheaper than buying more BF cases.
I've got about 30 card cases now and I only have three of the padded cases (one each of 2, 3 & 4) -I just grab the card cases I need and shove them in a suitable padded case.
If your army is an ongoing, expanding project then KR is definitely the way to go because you can add storage in fairly small inexpensive increments ( which also means you don't have to plan too far ahead).
If you design an army of xx points, build and paint it then move onto something else then BF is perfect because you can get fully custom foam (including markings.to remind you which squad goes where) in a really nice case with codex, etc packed in there as well. You just grab a case and your rulebook and you're set.

I've never used BF, but I'm quite pleased with the KR I just bought recently. I got it for my new guard and it's perfect for all the bayonets and such that stick out everywhere as the softness of the foam lets let squish around a bit quite safely. The one thing I will say is that I don't know what custom trays they have for DA. They'll obviously have bike only trays but I don't know about speeders and such on top of that. Again though, I like the softer foam because any odd bits that stick out have plenty of "squish space" to fit around without fear of damage. EDIT: and as others have mentioned, the card case idea is quite handy. If I ever get a third army or more DA (currently in a very butchered citadel case since the older ones aren't made for bikes) I can just pick up another card case to swap out with in my kaiser 2.

Another KR fan here. Quite happy with their product. Both systems have merits, but I like the soft foam and the lower price.

I've been using the tablewar solution for a while, and overall it's been my favorite of them all.
You can fit more models in a small area with that solution set. Now that the majority of GW models are plastic or finecast the fit very snugly in the cases.
Large metal models will still shift around and cause problems so for those models I still use other transport solutions.
The tablewar solution is one where you magnetize your bases and use modular metal trays in a display case to carry them.
The 32 mm bases let you stick a 5/16 washer from home depot at the base to add weight, some green stuff in the center of the washer to hold the magnet in place, then the magnet with superglue.
Not only does this give the model needed weight (essential with models with scourges that are extremely topheavy) but also ensures the magnet stays in place.

I use KR cases for my Tau army. There's quite a mix of suits, infantry and vehicles and some the custom trays can allow you to pack a lot of models into a single case, while also providing a lot of protection. The cases themselves are sturdy and relatively hard-wearing. They're also nicely discreet, which is a blessing when using public transport.
For my Chaos Daemon army though, the cases don't really fit the large amount of irregularly shaped models very efficiently. My solution to this has been to attach steel washers to the base and store them in file boxes lined with magnetic sheeting. The models stay upright and in place through most standard transportation - walking, sitting in a car boot etc etc. They won't hold up to being thrown about the place or dropped repeatedly so some care and attention is required, but again they make for a discreet, easily storable budget transport method.

I started off with battle foam, but have switched over to KR and tablewar(my favorite currently). I prefer the KR card system to the battle foam bags. But prefer the battle foam "foam" to the KR foam. Either way you can't really go wrong with any of the solutions as they are all pretty high quality.

I'm currently deciding what to do for my Dark Eldar between these two options. I like the KR system, but the cardboard boxes seem a bit overpriced to me. It's $299.99 for a Kaiser4 with 4 custom foam cardboard boxes, yet later on it still costs $247.96 to get an additional 4 custom foam cardboard boxes for another army. It really seems like a cool system that I would like, but the negligible savings make it as if I should have just bought a separate bag for the other army, too.

After dealing for years with the Citadel cases in various sizes, I was basically given an birthday gift in the form of Battlefoam. It has been a godsend for me and I will be investing in more as I love how well the cases travel.
Thus far I have had no issues with any of the products I have from them what so ever.
