I confess, after seeing some of the shenanigans dropping on the 16th for 40k armies, I am considering selling my Sororitas (therefore bailing completely) and playing 30k exclusively, and probably shrinking that down as well.

Do you guys think 30k will go down the same toilet as 40k? It is simply getting ridiculous up there in 10,000 years, for everyone. I keep holding out hope that it will be improved, but GW keep shoving worse and worse shenanigans out and my poor Sisters and even, at this point, comparatively poor 30k armies can barely compete. Are we safe from the ridiculous shenanigans here in 30k or are we doomed to the same spiraling fate?

Don't play with the people who spam Sicarians, Spartans and Typhons without a planned counter and you should be fine. Vehicles being non-scoring helps even the playing field even against TFGs like that.

Well, I confess, I can sometimes be a TFG in that regard. The army I most recently completed is a 3000 point Centurio Ordinatus themed army with three Ordinatus Engines in a leviathan detachment among other things. I am not worried about lists but about shenanigans, does that make sense? I might not be making sense, it's not even 6AM here yet. But I just mean some of the sheer lunacy that goes on.

A fluffy Leviathan siege detachment with say, a fellblade and two typhons is fluffy and cool, and has a storyline and a place in the game.

An army of power-armoured super-soldiers riding unarmoured wolves and protected by a wizard on a motorcycle who can make the whole shebang invisible while a random goon on a bike absorbs what little enemy shooting hits them by himself by being a skilled rider while dodging back and forth is...

... just silly. *shrug*

Forgeworld keeps a distinct separate flavor of their own separate from Main Studio GW, and always have.

They focus on making cool models and cool rules that got said models, they have yet to make rules just to sell something, even in 30k everything has its purpose.

So is 30k safe? I think so for the foreseeable future anyhow.

That said. What do you want for your Sisters of battle?

Armies:
32,000 points (Blood Ravens) 2500 (and growing) 1850

The closest you will get is DemonLorgar using divination to tank for his squad, and maybe levitating forward. Summoning is in very small amounts as well. Oh, and the robots for IW that can have an IC attached are super cool, but at 205 pts per model iirc they aren't the best thing ever.

Really, pick a legion and play it for fluff. Psychic sallies? They have a whole ROW for that! Barrage-spam IW? Got one for that too! Want everything in a Land Raider that iirc can have scout? ANYONE can fo that! Just pick a theme and run with it

I hope so. It's a relief, for me, that I have 30k, to be honest.

And for my Sororitas? I'm in the UK, and I don't return from Uni for a while (I'll be back in North America sometime in September or October most likely), but yes, I will sell them most likely when I return to the states. I doubt I can find a buyer here, though it is possible.

Something that I think helps mitigate the cheese factor of 30K is the accepted notion that you need to play bigger games.

40K tends to even out more the larger the games go, but because of the tournament scene there is an emphasis on rather small armies for the sake of playing time (1500-1850), where as a 2500-3000 point game tends to feel more balanced overall.

30K around 3000-4000 seems to level out as well and a lot of people I have been speaking to are aiming for this as their average size army. Yes you CAN make a totally dirty smash-face list by spamming the best/meanest combos, but the odds that anyone will spend that much time and money making an army that no one will want to play against aren't as likely.
