Hello again! This is part of a Chaos Space Marines project I've been working on on and off for a few years now. Recently, along with an old Chaos Dreadnought I'd begun work on and never finished, I dug out a squad of Noise Marines and resumed work on them.

This is the converted Noise Marine Champion champion, Spatha, around the time I pulled him out to finish the squad. This was just after I rebuilt the power sword and Doom Siren:

Most of the models I built around this time were put together with a gakky batch of thin plastic glue, so most have been falling apart as I've taken them out. The champion was no exception and I ended up having to pin his arms and Doom Siren onto the torso to make them stick. I hadn't decided on which legs he should have so I tossed around doing something like this.

Final build involved a regular pair of Chaos Marine legs and some additional wires glued in along the gun, sword, and Doom Siren. It's hard to see in this picture but the hand weapon is the end of an IG flamer stuck onto a plasma pistol, and the power sword is a Chainsword hilt with a GK halberd blade on the end. It was something else originally, but it fell off and disappeared sometime in the last three years.

The Doom Siren was built on top of the bottom of an Assault Marine Jumppack I had lying around. From memory, there's the top of a Tactical Marine power plant, the undersides of Tyranid weapons, and the ends of Skeleton Warrior trumpets to make it look more complete.

Bettter details of the Doom Siren, sword arm, and head/neck:

That's all for now! Hope you enjoyed, in the next post I'll share the painting process with you along with the rest of the lads.

Nice conversions and kitbashing skills, I look forward to seeing them painted.

Baron, don't forget to talk about the SEALs and Marines you habitually beat up on 2 and 3 at a time, as you PM'd me about.

Very cool, the head is really fitting for a Noise Marine, indeed, it will be very interesting to see him painted.

That's from the Vampire Counts Ghouls kit, the one that's meant for the Crypt Ghast. I picked it because it was bigger and freakier looking than the others I'd used.

Now then! Being Noise Marines, I wanted the squad to have the classic mix of bright pink surface with black trim, and Spatha gets to be the testbed for the scheme! First thing after the undercoat is a basecoat of Hormagaunt Purple across the armour, with Tallarn Flesh on the head and Khemri Brown/Adeptus Battlegrey for the mechanical stuff.

Reason I'm going with the older paints is because I ended up getting most of the paints I needed for my armies back in 2010-2011. I never got into the current Citadel range until last year when I was fixing up my Tyranids and needed some more red. Next stage is washing:

Once that's dry, there's layering the paint. First layer is Warlock Purple, then layer Tentacle Pink on top of that.

The details on the Aquila and shoulderpad are a bit different, it's Tausept Ochre with a layer of Burnished Gold and a wash over the top to make it stand out. The head is layered with Elf Flesh and then highlighted with Rotting Flesh to give Spatha a slightly pallid, off-colour look.

Some of the older Noise Marine models have a section of the leg and the opposite arm black, so they aren't being layered with the rest of it. They're painted black once the trim is done.

Finally, the upper layer of Tentacle Pink:

I've been waiting five years to use that colour, seriously.

It's been nearly a month, but I'm back baby! Got a bit preoccupied with work and uni to upload some more photos, but here they are.

Here you can see the progress of Warlock Purple and Tentacle Pink layers on the open spaces of the armour. The reason why the upper right leg and left forearm are black is a nod to the classic Noise Marines art, and also because asymmetry is cool.

Closeup of the front. The face was layered with Elf Flesh and then Rotting Flesh for highlight on top of that, to give him a weird, pallid look. It's hard to see in this shot but the weapons have layers or drybrushings of Dwarf Bronze to make them look more metal-like.

The gold for the aquila and the Emperor's Children pauldron was hard to pull off. It was initially a basecoat of Tausept Ochre with layers of Burnished Gold but the effect was bad, so it ended up being Burnished Gold with a wash of Devlan Mud and a highlight of Shining Gold. You can also see the Tyranids and Vampire Counts parts a little clearer on the power pack.

The pink on the upper leg is a little more even than the one on the lower because it was thinned out more when applied. It's more noticeable on the model than in these pictures.

The teeth! I wanted to make them stand out from the rest of the face, so I had to dip the tiniest amount of paint on the end of the brush and gently apply it so it wouldn't fall into the gaps. Easily the most difficult part of painting the model. I probably won't add any more lighter layers to them because of that, but also because I want the teeth to look decrepit and rotted.

Wide angle! Adding the black trim to the legs and arms here, and adding some colour to the wires of the hand weapon and head.

Very nice. EC are one of my favorite legions ever. I was wondering if you could tell me where you got those wires? Every time I convert noise marines or anything I want with sonic weapons i only use guitar chords that I have laying around. Unfortunately they don't bend at small lengths, thus I was curious about where you got yours. Thanks, and keep up the awesome work!!!

I am both selfish and chaotic. I value self-gratification and control; I want to have things my way, preferably now. At best, I'm entertaining and surprising; at worst, I'm hedonistic and violent.

Nice layering as well.
